"Very nice old hotel but barking dogs all night ruined the stay"

6.0

We really liked the old charm of the hotel and the room (beamed ceiling, stone floors) and balcony/view were great. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was large, clean and well appointed. The location was very good with respect to being one block from the town square and close to restaurants, shops, bars etc.

Barking dogs! It is unfortunate that many dogs were barking in the area all night. Unfortunately, can't recommend this hotel because of a poor sleep due to the barking dogs. Maybe a location in a different area of town would be better. The roosters arose late enough not to wake us up! If you go, take earplugs unless you are a very sound sleeper.

"Would definitely stay again and would bring friends too."

10.0

What a fabulous hotel! A great old buidling with big wooden doors right on the street. The location was amazing (right near the square), the room was decorated in a cool, quirky way, there was a big private patio with outdoor furniture and a hammock, overlooking the jungle, with a waterfall! The bed was super comfy, there was a nice gas fireplace, a huge jacuzzi tub and rain shower in a really big bathroom. Super clean, super nice staff. A little coffee maker and tea plus cookies! Just loved it.

Would have loved a little fridge. A little hard to find (there's no sign, which we sort of liked though too).

"thanks again to David, Saul, and housekeeping staff"

10.0

Large modern bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and shower, Balcony with hammock, interesting decor. Well-placed power outlets. Attentive management. Owner and manager went out of their way to help me, and again when I was about to leave- housekeeping promptly searched my room for lost items and gave me the phone charger I had forgotten about. The doors are old but sturdy, and the doorlock is electronic so you don't have to carry a key unless you want to. It's a good location, close to the heart of the town. Did I mention that there was a hammock ?

The doorway to the bathroom was very low for me, just something to be cognizant of if you're over 6 feet. If you've never been to SSO you should be aware that it's 500 years old and sits up in a high mountain valley surrounded by forest, and that forest has a thriving population of insects and spiders, so do not leave food or anything that smells like food in your room unless you want it to join the existing ecosystem
