Hotel Alexandra Loen

Two adults spent 2 nights here in late August as part of a bus tour group and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was large by European standards, with twin beds, night tables, a large desk/chair, and sofa. Lighting was well done, especially in the bath area. Our room had a combo tub/shower with half glass door that was extremely difficult to get in and out of. Also the tub bottom was very slippery and there were no grab bars like in American hotels. The hotel boasts a spa, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, several hot tubs and numerous toys for children/children’s pools. Robes, towels and slippers are provided in each room. The 2 buffet dinners we had were excellent as were the 2 buffet breakfasts. The comforter on the bed was too warm at night--the room really needs sheets and mid-weight blankets on the beds. The staff were very nice. We definitely would stay here again.

Location was good. Great swimming pools.

Pools closed too early (8pm). Breakfast buffet was chaos….no one seated us. We just grabbed a table that didn’t have a “reserved” sign, no one clearing used plates. Room was ok but not worth ~$400/nt plus the bathroom had a slight sewage smell to it in the morning.

We absolutely loved the location and the view was breathtaking. The spa facilities were great.

The hotel is a bit dated, but nevertheless very comfortable. The breakfast was subpar. In the evening we went down to the restaurant to see if we could order dessert and the staff member we spoke with was not friendly and made a face. Some of the spa facilities (saunas) required an additional fee.

Good location and room had a stunning view

Nepala (Thai helper) at breakfast had a breakdown when asked to peel and cut an apple for my son. Here are some of her comments Don’t expect service in Norway or this hotel If you want my manager you can go find them I don’t have to tell you my name When I asked another staff member what her name was, she came screaming to the table saying tell them I’m the Thai lady, stuck her hand in my face and walked away This lady should not be working in any service role This was shocking as we had excellent service at 6 other hotels we stayed in Norway
