Location. I also stayed here 18 months before and had a very positive experience.

Dishonesty. When checking out I was informed that my card wouldn’t be deducted automatically and that I in fact needed to pay the hotel myself. An outlandish number of 30,000 rupees was asked for and I (being unfamiliar with exchange rates) gullibly paid it. I later did some calculations and realised I had been overcharged by over 18,000 rupees! To their credit, the receptionist admitted her ‘mistake’ (saying implausibly that it was because another guest who needed to pay that vast amount had a name like mine) and repaid me the amount I was overcharged. But then, maybe a day later I received notification from this platform that the hotel had said I hadn’t shown up and checked in. So basically it appears to have been a strategy by the hotel to be dishonest, by (a) removing their obligation to pay what they owe booking.com and (b) by overcharging gullible guests. This is a great shame as I had such positive feelings and memories about this hotel beforehand.
