Nära till allt i Santa Fe, ändå några gator bort från ljudet av kareoke, restauranger etc. Fantastisk personal. God frukost och väldigt god mat i restaurangen.

Abbiamo soggiornato qui per qualche giorno e nel complesso l’esperienza è stata positiva, soprattutto per alcune cose. Si mangia davvero bene e il ristorante è molto carino, curato e piacevole, un bel posto dove fermarsi sia a colazione che a cena. Lo staff è mediamente gentile: non super caloroso come in altre strutture delle Filippine, ma comunque disponibile e corretto. Punto a favore importante: i tour organizzati dalla struttura sono belli e ben organizzati, ideali se non avete voglia di pensare a nulla e volete girare la zona in modo comodo.

La nota un po’ dolente è la camera: piuttosto piccola e un po’ datata, e sinceramente dava una sensazione un po’ soffocante. Il balcone c’è, ma senza vista, affacciato solo sui tetti e sulle lamiere, quindi non aspettatevi nulla di scenografico. Detto questo, è una cosa che in parte si intuisce già al momento della prenotazione, quindi non è stata una sorpresa totale. Se siete in zona e non ci sono molte alternative, resta comunque meglio che niente: la struttura è semplice, senza pretese, ma funzionale.

We stayed at Smak’s Hotel for six nights and found it to be excellent value for money. The hotel is very well located, just a short walk from Kota Beach, as well as the market, shops, and many restaurants in Santa Fe, making it a very convenient base for exploring the island. The hotel is by no means luxurious, but that is exactly reflected in the price. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with warm water, a quiet and well-functioning air conditioner, generally reliable (if occasionally slow) WiFi, and even access to a Netflix account. Everything we needed for a relaxed stay was there. And the bed was super comfy, too! Breakfast, which was included in the room rate, was consistently enjoyable. There was a choice of Filipino and Western set menus, most of which came with fresh local fruit – on most days, delicious mango. We also had dinner at the hotel several times and were pleasantly surprised by the quality. The menu offers both Filipino and Western dishes, all of which we tried were very good. The standout was the schnitzel (the owner is Swiss), but the palabok deserves a special mention as well. The hotel also provided free beach towels, helped arrange a scooter for us, and was happy to assist with any other requests we had. While all staff members were kind and accommodating, Joy truly stood out – always smiling and genuinely attentive, she played a big part in making our stay so enjoyable. All in all, Smak’s Hotel is a bit of a hidden gem. We would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, friendly, and well-located place to stay while exploring Santa Fe and the rest of Bantayan Island.

The WiFi connection could be a bit stronger, as Netflix buffered occasionally, but this was almost a non-issue for us since we did not come to Bantayan to watch TV.

The staff was very friendly and helpfull. Good breakfast.
