The kindest family ever. Accommodated us super well. When we arrived the taxi driver dropped us off at the wrong location and the brother came to pick us up. They provided a really cheap taxi driver and went above and beyond to help us. Breakfast was served at anytime so handy for late sleepers and family dinners were delicious. What I liked the most was the family hosting the homestay. Four generations under one roof, and everyone was very welcoming and warm, and made sure we had everything we needed. Felt right at home. Very peaceful atmosphere, after almost three months travelling we needed a laid back environment, with a family feel! Also having delicious family dinners, which also encouraged meeting fellow travellers. Thank you so much, Uyen, for being such a great host! Will miss all of you!

I decided to stay here because it seemed like an actual homestay instead of a commercialized bed and breakfast kind of homestay. I was not disappointed. I booked a bed in a dorm but got a private room instead because it was available. Oanh, the family's daughter, speaks English fluently and was very helpful from the start. I ate dinner with the family every evening. It costs 150k and is worth every Dong as you get to eat a variety of yummy local foods (and a lot of it). Even though not mentioned on booking.com, I also got free breakfast every morning. You will never have an empty tea cup and if you like, you'll also get to taste a variety of homemade happy water. What really made this stay so lovely and memorable though was the family itself. Since there are 4 generations living together, there is a lot of life in the house. The dogs are very cute as well, especially Tom and Bí Ngô (pumpkin). Everyone is hospitable and friendly and a good sense of humor runs in the family as well. I felt like home. After Ninh Binh, I went to Cat Ba and Hanoi only to return to this homestay for my last two nights in Vietnam because I had already missed it. When I returned, the private rooms were full because I had recommended the place to three Australians I met in Cat Ba and they decided to follow the recommendation. I had the dorm for my self and it was comfortable as well. I was also glad to stay in Ninh Binh instead of Tam Coc because I didn't like the touristy feel of Tam Coc but that is a question of preference. In any case you can rent a motorbike for 120k a day so you are mobile and can reach all the beautiful places in and around Ninh Binh easily. If I ever come back to Vietnam, I will definitely stay with this family again.

You'll need a motorbike to get around. But that's the same for any location in Ninh Binh.

I cannot recommend staying here enough! I had one of my best experiences in Vietnam staying with this family, sharing meals, tea, and singing. I felt so welcomed by everyone and was lucky to have Uyen there who speaks fantastic English. They offer motorbikes as well. Best place in Ninh Binh!

I have liked the family and they have liked me. All they were very welcoming, kind and I felt like one of members. Warm, good and happy people. Anything I needed I could ask for help. I could communicate in very good spoken and written English with the daughter and via translator with others with no problems :) . Every time I was back home I was welcomed with a cup of green tea. I could try delicious local dishes and drinks on dinners spent together and be always full after. In the morning I could start a day with breakfast too. Food was made from the heart by the lady mother. I could also rent a scooter with a safe helmet and request for laundry with drying in the property. I liked the wide space in all the house including my room. The room was clean and prepared. I was also given a thorough introduction of local spots in Ninh Binh worth to visit and a map. It was quieter than usual outside. No much traffic around as the property is located on the secondary street.

It is a real homestay, and that’s what is so special about it. It is run by an amazing family of 4 generations who take care of the guests to another level. If you go make sure to attend the family dinner, delicious food and great people. They will help with renting scooters or bicycles, getting taxis, restaurant recommendations and sight seeing advice. Breakfast included is also very nice. One of the best places we stayed at during our backpacking trip.

Uyen and her family were incredibly welcoming and accommodated all our requests, treating us as family. They do so much for the community, both local Vietnamese and foreign travellers. We shared a home-cooked meal with them which was delicious and rented a scooter to explore the beautiful region, with Uyen's knowledge and advice to guide us. The room was quiet and comfortable. Highly recommended!!
