Copper King Lodge

This is our tenth year staying at Copper King Lodge. We stay in the same cabin every visit, so it feels like home. It is a very short walk to the Copper Chair lift, which makes it appealing for us. We bring our own food, and have lunch between skiing sessions. My favorite part, even though my kids are grown now, is still feeding the deer and ducks in the afternoon. It's my personal heaven.

The Copper King Lodge is now, and for a number of months has been, under new management and ownership. A progressive updating and modernizing is underway and the results have been remarkable. I have been a guest many times over the years, and I can say without hesitation that Debbie and Russell are doing an outstanding job making the Copper King an outstanding lodge both for winter and summer activities. Intending no disrespect to other Red River facilities, the Copper King is our exclusive destination winter and summer.

only thing wish more of the restaurants were open and gift shops, I understand off season, but some people like to travel then without all the noise of a lot of people. Everyone we came in contact with was very nice and professional.

My friend and I were both 70+ and we needed a downstairs room. Having to walk up 20 steps was draining.

Combine river front lodging with spectacular autumn leaf color in Northern New Mexico and you have a winning combination. Add to that, you're only 36 miles from Taos and other nearby villages worth visiting to check out history and art, and you'll think you won the lottery. The lodge offers a hot tub, outdoor seating, firepit, and trout fishing steps away from your room. While my husband fished, I took advantage of photo opportunities birds, deer, and turkeys, and river scenery offered. We stayed in a kitchen unit supplied with anything necessary to prepare a meal. Everything in our unit was clean and beautifully decorated. I loved the gas fireplace that heated the room when temps dropped. The shower was great with plenty of hot water and the towels were thick and fluffy. You will find lots of choices of eating establishments within several blocks. It's easy to walk anywhere you want to go for a meal or shopping. This was a lucky find for us, and we will return.

The room was great!

You could hear every cough, sneeze, toilet flush and footstep the people around us made. The noise from above us was awful! Friday night I was in tears, I even prayed the people upstairs would go to bed!
