Copper King Lodge

We had a great time at the Copper King. Friendly staff, very clean rooms and great accommodations. We stayed on the river side in a 3 bedroom unit with a kitchen. It worked great for our needs. My husband and sons have come here to Copper King for years to ski and love the proximity to the ski lift. I highly recommend staying here but you need to book early for ski season and the busy summer season!

Exactly as advertised. Stayed two nights for a bicycle tour event. Obviously not ski season, but the ski lift is literally feet from the building. Picnic area/fire pit outside is very nice and literally feet from the river, as is the hot tub which is screened in and under a roof. Interesting group of does and fawns wandered through the picnic area every evening at dusk.

Great accommodations, best lodge in RR. Owners have done a marvelous job improving and maintaining the lodge. My wife and I have been coming to RR almost every year, sometimes twice, since 1966 for me and since age 3 for my wife. We are now 74 years old. Copper King was the first place I stayed in 1966, and we have stayed there many times since. It is always our first choice if we can get the dates we need. We have stayed at many other facilities in RR, and none are as well kept and comfortable as CK. Even the pillows are great. Most of the other lodges act like they are doing you a favor to let you pay to stay in their facilities. We don't expect special treatment, and all the owners of the CK Lodge through the years have been exceptionally nice and accommodating, including the current owners. You cannot stay in RR at a better lodge than Copper King.

We spent two nights at the lodge. Loved the location—directly next to river and walking distance to shopping/dining. My only complaint was the shower. It was literally the worst shower I ever had. It was either freezing or burning with no in between. My whole family went through the same experience and we all agreed it was the worst shower ever. Maybe it was just our room? Other than that, I highly recommend the lodge.

My husband and I stayed in Cabin 15 at Copper King Lodge. If you want to be close to the river, close to the ski lift, and close to town this is the place for you! From our back porch we were about 10 to 15 yards from the river which was accessed with well groomed grass. Humming birds came to a feeder on the back porch. The owners put out corn nightly for the deer. We had 4 deer come right up to our back porch and stay there at least 30 minutes. Ducks were always on the grass and in the river. There is a side walk that runs along the river and on the other side a beautiful trail that runs parallel to the river. The ski lift was literally steps from our back porch and Main Street was one block away. We walked to eat and shop. The cabin was meticulously clean. It truly is a cabin with wood floors and pine walls. If you want modern amenities then this is not for you, but in my opinion the amenities fit the outdoor surroundings. The kitchen was fully furnished and the bathroom has really nice thick oversized towels. There was a designated parking spot for each cabin which was so nice not having to search for a parking spot. The owners were extremely nice and wanted to make sure everything met our expectations. We will ALWAYS stay at Copper King Lodge for all future visits to Red River.

Expect this establishment to nickel & dime you if you have to cancel for any reason - They will even dock you 20% for moving dates. Changed dates due to COVID and they acted like it was no big deal - When the new dates got closer it turned out we owed more money than we thought because of 20% deduction to what we had originally paid.

My wife and I first discovered the Copper King Lodge in 2019 and plan to return every year we can! It certainly does not disappoint with its claims to having close proximity to the lift, having a cozy atmosphere right near the river, yet its just a two minute walk to Main Street! We never had to drive anywhere (grocery story, restaurants, shops, and ski gear). The Bighorn sports rental is just a block away, so you can get all your rental gear right nearby (ask for Robert). Clay and his family are excellent innkeepers and are always quick to handle any problems or answer any questions. We can’t recommend them highly enough! P.S. be sure to bring plenty of carrots or wheat bread to feed the mountain deer that you will occasionally find right outside your door. 😁

Copper King Lodge is right on the river with a lovely view of the ski hill (with beautiful aspens changing for fall while I was there). The kitchen and living room setup was great and perfect for our needs. The beds were comfortable with enough room. The housekeeping staff was punctual in replacing towels and cleaning cloths when we needed them. We had a great experience!
