I dined twice at the Restaurant zum Turm with my consort, a vegetarian this June while spending days on the Rheinsteig. The chef shows his deep love for food in his extraordinary command of blending flavors to develop complex sauces that satisfy the most demanding palate. I ate fish dishes of great variety, my love enjoyed asparagus in a tempera-like crust on risotto, desert included the well-known chocolate "muffin" with a melted chocolate heart - but reached the top level of satisfaction. Rarely you find a gem like this in Germany at very reasonable prices. The service was correspondingly elegant; knowledgeable, friendly and everything but arrogant.

The ambience of the restaurant matches the old village of Kaub. Classical decoration and professional service. The goose liver terrine was the best I have eaten in my life. The presentation of the food was nice, but the taste was fantastic. The menu gives many options, so everyone should be accommodated. Great selection of wines. Overall really great, so we will come back as soon as possible

I highly recommend zum Turm, both for the food and the accommodation. My wife and I stayed here 5 nights, using it as a base for 3 stages of the Rheinsteig. It was wonderful, after hiking all day, to return by train to a spacious room in the Tower and a marvellous meal in the restaurant. The breakfast was also a meal to look forward to and a great start to the day. This is food as it was meant to be eaten.

Located in Kaub, one of the small towns along the Rhine valley (the Middle-Rhine valley, to be precise), you will find this typical Rhine valley hotel. The 19th century atmosphere reminds you of the times when wealthy Germans (and others) came to spend their summers in these parts. Whereas a lot of them seem to have stopped in time, "Zum Turm" has evolved with the times. The rooms are spacious and well kept, with first class beds. There is WiFi throughout the entire hotel, and even - seldom seen anywhere else - a desktop computer in every room for your convenience. There is a fully stocked minibar at reasonable prices, telephone and TV. The restaurant is small but exquisite. Just five or six tables, but the chef knows his business and the waiter knows his wines. The breakfast, though not the typical buffet you seem to gete everywhere else in Germany, is personalized and, frankly, huge. Breakfast for one easily feeds three. The staff is extremely helpful and kind. This is a place to visit... and revisit !

Nice small restaurant on the first floor of this hotel well located along the Rhine River. Charming dining room, great creative food served in reasonable sized portions. But extremely slow service. You should not be in a hurry to stop there, seems that it comes from the kitchen as the waiter was also waiting quite a lot... Great cordon bleu made with wild pork.

We stayed at this hotel as part of a walking tour of the Rheinsteig (long-distance walking path along the Rhine--booked via EuroHike). The room was adequate and spacious enough. However, our room faced directly out to the train line. It was very loud. We do give credit that the hotel provided ear plugs for the guests and this certainly helped at night. We also ate at their small restaurant. Excellent food--highly recommend the pumpkin soup (if they have it). Good solid "German" breakfast provided. The owner of the hotel--we think is also the chef.

My husband and I and another couple spent two nights at an Airbnb in Kaub last September. On one evening we went to the Zum Turm Restaurant and had an excellent dinner on the terrace. The food, wine and service were all top notch. We thought that the prices were very reasonable for the quality. An extremely enjoyable experience was had by all. Highly recommended.

We came here to have our dinner and was so pleased by 1. The waiter a very competent and observant for person for all persons in the restaurant. Although he was the only person serving, he was able to all feel comfortable and well serviced. 2. The food The food was excellent,. We had chosen the menu, and it was very fine and delicat. I think it was the "spergelsoup" I have ever tasted. 3. The wine. We made it up to the waiter to find some wine to go with the food and we where not disappointed. We had an excellent evening, with great food, wine and company and will recommend this place.
