Lodge at 5600

Great views of the Rim country from the lodge. The grounds were well maintained and the live music on Saturday afternoon was a nice touch. The room was well appointed and the decor is tastefully rustic. The location has the potential to be great but is being poorly managed.

Ownership/ Mgmt can be more guest-service minded. They want to run like it an Air BNB but lack some of the room amenities like a kitchenette and are overzealous to cut costs. Example: The thermostat is restricted and turns off every time you open the door. Then you have to wait 5 minutes for it to turn back on. It then locked completely on the first night. As evidenced from the check in instructions, it is a known paint point for guests and yet nothing is done to try to fix it. If you want to limit guests ability to stay comfortable in the AZ heat to save a few bucks, then please provide fans in the rooms. My wife found some hairs on the bathroom toilet. But what really soured our experience was the level of disservice upon checking out. Apparently, I left a fork in the ice bin. Instead of a message like, “thank you staying w/ us, we hope you enjoyed your stay”, I get a message asking if I took a fork and threatening that if they can’t find it, I will be charged the whole set. I was in disbelief! 🙄 After spending almost $700 for a 2 night stay, all I get is a threat about a missing fork (that was later found) and Not a “thank you”…Wow! Needless to say, with that level of service, we will not be staying here again.

Loved the room and especially the view of the mountains! The bed was comfy, and Sips next door had good coffee/sandwiches. The staff were accommodating by bringing our food to the room. Very relaxing when sitting outside and enjoying the views of Pine. We even saw some Elk nearby, too!

We could hear a lot of noise from the room above us, footsteps, opening/shutting the sliding door, and even coughing. I would suggest booking an upstairs room.
