Rock sand Resort

The view from the room and the terrace was incredible. The location on the beach literally just steps away. You feel like you are located on the sea.

The fact that it is quite far from the main street so you actually need to carry your own luggage through the beach. There should be a staff helping you bring it with some kind of a trolley. I am a man so I was ok but I imagine a woman that would be hard. Also I did not like the food too much. Portions were very small, one egg for breakfast in American breakfast. Once I ordered the chicken which I received uncooked.

L'emplacement est superbe ! Le personnel très sympathique. Bon rapport qualité/prix pour ma chambre du bas.

Le restaurant, magnifiquement situé est un peu cher par rapport à d'autres sur la plage. Dommage.

Beliggenheden,maden,havet og personalet, selv aberne der stjal solcreme og mad når man var uopmærksom. Helt ærgeligt er det det fedeste sted jeg nogensinde har opholdt mig

Lidt besværgelig man skulle slæbe sin kuffert 500 meter gennem sandet for at komme til resortet, men det er jo en del af oplevelsen.

Die Aussicht und auch das Meer zum schwimmen sind top. Nebenan genossen wir eine wohltuende Massage. Wir kommen wieder…

Einfach, aber schön… gerne wieder

When I booked this room I got puzzled by the many conflicting reviews. Some loved it some hated it. How is this possible??? I almost cancelled my reservation but the gorgeous views captured in the ad images prompted me otherwise. And I am glad I did go. The main issue with the property is the name "Rock Sand Resort". The word "Resort" creates expectations of infinity pools, swanky lounge areas and bountiful buffets. Well this is more of a guesthouse or a backpacker hangout (with improved facilities like AC) as prices clearly indicate. You cannot expect a 5 star resort for $60 / night for a family room! and if you do you are a fool...sorry. Here are some clarifications for anyone that would consider booking. 1. it is right on the beach. Many rooms have lovely views on the water. And when they do, that view is simply glorious, meaning dreamy!!!. But not all have a view. Ask before you book and confirm the room number. 2. The beach by the hotel is gorgeous meaning GORGEOUS with clear turquoise water and coconut palm trees. Being it at the end of the developed area you can have it all for yourself or almost 4. Rooms are basic but the family rooms (there are 3 of them) are spacious, can accommodate 4 people, have beautiful view, relatively new AC units and spacious verandas right on the water with a little table and a few lounge chairs. Room 29 has softer bed (we went for it for a reasonable surcharge) 5. Many reported staff are rude. I have to admit they are not your typical Thai hosts, all smiles and pleasantries, but they were cordial and helpful to us 6. The restaurant and the lounge area while not upscale are very cool spaces with hammock and mats. Pop a Chang with your friends and you have a lovely afternoon waiting for you. 7. We asked to have the room cleaned 3 times during our stay and they did it impeccably.

1. As many others pointed out there is no road. You need to walk to the guesthouse from the beach. It is a struggle with the luggage but they did help out! Also after the first few times after the initial excitement the walk to reach the more commercial area where restaurants and bars start getting old. But the guesthouse seclusion conveys a Robinson Crusoe vibe which some of us truly enjoy (I do!). 2. There was some trash laying around as we arrived (old wood, old boards, etc.) but the staff were in the process of cleaning it up probably getting ready for peak season 3. there are stairs! Lots of them. The facility is built between the rocky hill and the water, so many rooms are accessible only by the mean of steep staircases. Not recommended for people with mobility issue 4. Some areas are tiled and the floor can get slippery when wet. Be careful,. Slipping and falling is certainly a possibility for those of us who are less athletic. 5. There were ants in the bathroom but only a few and only during the night. Not a biggie…keep in mind the hotel backs to the jungle so some contact with other creatures is inevitable…. All in all I think this hotel is a solid option on White Sand Beach. For those savvy, practical no frills travelers this accommodation offers terrific value and a unique beach vibe. We will be back.
