"Horrible stay, untrained staff, poor facilities."

1.0

This was by far the worst hotel stay experience of my life. As a globe trotter and a solo traveler since 2005, I have stayed in luxury hotels to budget hotels to bed and breakfasts to Airbnbs, but this was the worst. The hotel staff isn't trained, is rude, unhelpful, non-co-operative. There was no hot water. The phone wasn't working and was replaced twice. One of the numbers - (the room service number) wasn't working. I had to go up and down the room to the reception to ask for help on day 2 of my cycles on the day I arrived. There was no breakfast laid out in the morning. When I asked for fruits, they didn't have a single fruit in their kitchen! So one of their kind staff members took me to a fruit stall on his bike at 7:30 am. The manager has no clue what's going on in the hotel. He tried to help but he has no managerial skills to handle the staff members. He had no hold on them and the staff was not well-instructed or trained. He even tried to hug me on a friendly basis even after I refused to. That was the final nail in the coffin for me. There was someone abusing just outside my room when I asked the manager to not allow smoking cigarette. The smoke was overwhelmingly strong and covered every inch of my room. I am allergic to smoking and it gives me a headache. When I asked to stop and requested to move the person elsewhere. Initially, the manager said that it was his brother who had come to stay. Later he denied and said that it was some other guest. Later he put the blame of abusing outside my room on one of his newly joined technical staff members. It was ridiculous to see so many lies piling up one after the other. I had asked them to not charge me for the night I arrived because of all the inconvenience due to no hot water, no phone, going up and down the stairs for help, rude staff members. Please note, even after day one of my stay, there ws still no hot water.

Horrible. In continuation to what I wrote above.... When I asked the manager to arrange for a guide to explain to me the finer aspects of the history and architecture and the city that normally others won't know; he arranged for the worst guide I have seen/heard. He couldn't speak well, he was half deaf. Therefore, I couldn't understand half the things he was speaking and he couldn't hear what I was asking. The hotel made me pay Rs. 700/- for the pathetic guiding service! The staff sleeps in the reception hall. it's a very awkward arrangement. On day 3, when I came back from my day tour and as I entered, the receptionist asked if I wanted hot water to shower. It was ridiculous to hear that, especially when I had made it clear that they must switch on their heating system at all times...and especially when they are charging Rs. 5000 plus taxes for this repulsive service and amenities! The price for a hotel room in Sravasti at this rate is exhorbitant and when I booked, I expected the hotel to be top-notch! But it was exactly the opposite! I even helped them by checking out early on booking.com so that they won't get charged for the night they weren't going to charge me for. But the manager made me stay awake beyond 9 pm (and I had just come out of Vipassana course and was used to sleeping at 9 pm and he knew that), asking me to call booking.com help line to cut short my stay so they save their 20% they have to pay the website. I wish I had not helped. The service and the hotel was so bad that they deserved to lose the money as a punishment to improve the next time. Not only did I spoil my sleep for the thankless people but I also lost my precious money on their pathetic services/amenities.
