"My stay"

The rooms are comfortable and clean, has the basics so for spending the night is good. The hotel is well located.

My only discomfort was that the internet was extremely slow, I ended using my data instead. Also, the TV wasn't working.

"Price and location is all. "

4.0

I thought I would be sufficiently cuddled by Hotel Gomez because of its excellent location and rate ($27usd/night). I'm also a sucker for heritage buildings. But I was wrong. There are some earthly comforts that I believe should be present in all hotels, no matter how inexpensive. For example: 1. Bathrooms should always be impeccable. Tasteful and considered details in bathrooms need not be expensive. 2. The carpeted floor did not feel clean. Yuck. 3. The linen and blankets kept me warm at night but were too basic. No coziness factor. 4. Wooden details in the bedroom like the desk, cabinetry, door and door jamb, NEED to be in tip-top shape. Although old, wood can still look very stately. Just needs love and maintenance. 5. When wifi is promised to be there, it should WORK and be powerful in all areas. 6. Mexico (and especially Guanajuato) is rich in decorative handicraft. No excuse why the hotel can't have any love in this department. If these 6 factors were addressed 100%, I would stay in this hotel again and again, even if rates doubled in price.

"Very cheap but not worth it!"

2.0

We've stayed here previous years and it was fine, but looks like it has gone terribly down in the past few years. Granted the night was only around $30 US, but totatlly not worth it. Much better to pay double for a MUCH better place to spend the night. First, the everyone at the front desk is super slow and don't know what they are doing. We bought some Primera Plus tickets for a trip we were taking and it took the lady over 30 min to write up the tickets for 4 people. The rooms are small, very small. There is no AC, but they do have a fan (ours was really loud). TV with cable was nice, and the WiFi worked in the room- which was the only good thing. In previous years the WiFi only worked in the lobby or outside the rooms. There was no shampoo or lotion provided, no water or cups, and the toilet barely flushed. No hot water, despite our complaint, the guy at the front desk simply said "there should be some". What really made it bad was that they lost my sister's key to her room and they wouldn't admit it. They refused to give her a new room, or even less- issue her a refund. Never staying here again!
