"Nice pub and staff shame about our bedroom."

Didn't have breakfast as the chef was ill. Evening meal of steak and chips was okay! Generally the public areas were pleasant.

Our room desperately needs redecorating and updating to modern standards.

Steve was wonderful and showed us the history of the building when we showed interest. Such a fantastical place to stay.

"Our worst pub B & B experience ever, sadly."

2.0

Lovely old building in great central location. Nice atmosphere in bar (despite being told off by female staff member about our dog sitting on my coat on the bench- appreciate that this is the policy but didn’t need to be ‘told off’ in such a rude way). V tasty burger & chips.

Our bedroom (no 1) had no charm at all. I would be embarrassed to let this room out to paying customers as it hasn’t been up-graded since the 60’s/70’s (and done cheaply and sloppily at that time); furniture & furnishings looked as if they had come from a house clearance, stained carpet, horrible shower room with feeble electric shower; TV at right angle to bed so hard to watch from bed; no glasses; lots of notices in rooms about what you couldn’t do with no feeling of being a welcome guest. A loud noise like a heavy duty fan outside window, every 20 mins and lasting a few minutes each time went on until the early hours - v disrupted sleep. Disappointed that in spite of it being a cold evening, the log fire in the lounge wasn’t lit. Parking on street outside pub is expensive. Didn’t appreciate being told so late in the day that there was no breakfast service following morning as staff member ill.

Very nice position and attractive and comfortable bar

We were in Room 2 which was very, very small. The bed was on the point of collapse and extremely uncomfortable. The pillows were ancient and almost useless for support or comfort. Two totally dreafful nights. The loo seat wasn't secured. One of the bedside lamps had a shade that wasn't even attached. No hand towels (got them on request); no hand soap, not even a tooth mug.
