Saranya River House สรัญญาริเวอร์เฮาส์

I'd stayed at the Saranya River House pre-covid and had been happy with the place so thought I'd give it another go. I was met by Saranya and her daughter Tan, checked in, given a cold drink and shown to my room. I actually preferred the one I'd stayed in last time and asked if I could have that one instead. No problem. I got up before breakfast to go to Doi Lang for birding and was given a substantial breakfast box each morning. Returning after dark at night, I ate nearby at a place recommended by Saranya, the Sunshine Cafe and the food was excellent. The hotel itself is tucked away by the river, quiet and with little passing traffic, adjacent to Tha Ton paddies, another birding site. The rooms are very clean, big soft beds, tea and coffee, plenty of drinking water and a good hot shower. Mine had a view across the river to the mountains. I did have a breakfast in the restaurant one morning and it was very nice. There was even an evening where some pupils from a local school performed music and dance in front of the hotel. Really good. So, yes, a great place to stay. Saranya and Tan are excellent hosts and I'll stay there again on my next visit.

Good location for a one night stop during a roadtrip. Very friendly host. Good value for money (if you don't mind the decor).

Clean and fully furnitured room, kind owner, ice cold swimming pool to get you sober for another round. The whole place around is serene and beautiful, take your time.

Big room with big window but no real view. Feel a bit old but clean. Nice swimming pool (too cold at this time of the year though) Close to the river and walking distance from restaurants and the temples

Ask for a deposit when you arrive. Be careful if you come to tha ton to take the boat to chiang rai : when we were there the river was too low to take the boat.
