Minh Tai Hotel

This hotel was just so much better than expected. It's an old hotel, but very well maintained. I had a corner room, so I kind of had a sheltered piece of the balcony by myself. It's very easy to put a chair out there. My room was very clean and cozy, and everything was in baby blue and white, just like the outside of the hotel. Big fridge, table and chairs. The location is superb, right next to the market. I have no idea what people are complaining about here. You come here because you are looking for a budget room.

The bed. It is the hardest and most uncomfortable mattress and pillow I have ever had in my life. I have travelled throughout Asia and it is by far the worst I have slept on.

This is an older hotel which is still in excellent condition. We like these older establishments as they tend to have a certain charm and Minh Tai has it. This seems like a family-run hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. The people at the front desk spoke English and were very helpful as they called FUTA Bus to arrange a pick-up for us at the hotel. Our corner room was very clean, large and bright. Room cleaning was provided each day. Bed sheets and towels were very crisp, fresh and clean. The room featured a refrigerator, two chairs, table, fan and air conditioning. Everything in the room worked perfectly. There was also a large closet. Windows were tinted which kept out the solar heat. One of the windows opened to let air in, That window could also be locked. The other window was a round porthole-like window which added to the charm of the room. All windows had curtains. There was a flat screen TV on the wall and the wi-fi connection was reliable with excellent upload and download speeds. The bathroom was also clean and bright. The sink didn't leak, which is always nice! The hot water was on-demand with the flick of a switch in the room, so it was available all the time. There was a cubicle shower, so water did not flood the floor. Just outside the room is a common outdoor space for looking down on the street below which we enjoyed each evening. We would absolutely stay at Minh Tai Hotel again.

We only wished there were dining options right outside the hotel, but this was not a major issue for us and it's certainly not the fault of the hotel. The mattress was firm for her but not a bother for me - firm mattresses have been a common feature for us during our travels through Vietnam.
