The Paragon Hotel

Right in the middle of town, access to food and drinks. Handy having the pub downstairs! Good stay for the price, and it was just for a night.

Unfortunately there were ants on the walls and we found a few in our bed :(

The fridge in the room was noisy & there was another noise (maybe hot water heater outside the room which made noise)

Great old traditional pub with a tasteful update. We were pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the beds are, we weren’t expecting much. Women’s bathroom is freshly updated and nice, didn’t check the men’s but the blokes said “yeah good”. Our rooms were huge, one had its own basin which was great. You do hear music and people talking in the bistro downstairs, which was done by 10pm (but probably later on a Saturday). We also heard everyone walking past our room, which we expected so it didn’t bother us but you should know to be ready for it. Heaps of street parking in front and along the side. We were expecting “good enough” and actually it was very good. Excellent value for money. Would have liked to say “very good” but it’s not one of the choices, it’s better than good as rates but not quite up to excellent.

Carpets were a bit overdue for a clean. Sound carrying from bistro and corridors but we knew to expect that. No in-house breakfast, would have been fantastic to have a simple quick brekky available at the pub or even basic facilities (bowls, spoons) in the room to bring and eat our own as cafes are a couple of blocks away.
