Presidency Artotel, Kochi

The ambience of the place was amazing. Even though the place could do with some new new paint here and there or a thorough scrub, all of it brought a very special and homely feeling to it all. The wall decorations, the colours, the water separating the two lines of rooms, the swimmingpool,the green area next to the restaurant, and the brilliant location. It must be the best in the fort. It was within convenient walking distance to the Ernakulam jetty and not too far from the Vypin ferry either. Good restaurants nearby, but best of all the silence at night, even though it was a main road outside. The staff was fabulous. All very hospitable and friendly in a casual but still very professional way. We got help with organising a trip to" the backwaters" as well as many other things. They handled every question we had in a professional way. No one mentioned - no one forgotten. A Southindian breakfast was served every morning with a smile, and we could easily get more fruit,curries,juice, coffee, or whatever our cravings were. Every morning, there was a different meal being served. The room was huge, and even though it didn't have any natural light because of no windows, it was nothing we really missed. We spent most of the days out on the streets and loved coming back for a swim in the pool. The pool was the main reason for us to choose Colony Artotel.

It was nothing there not to like.

The rooms do not match the photos. The place is a converted warehouse so there isn’t any natural light and the rooms have really high ceilings making the place feel uncomfortable. There is next to no soundproofing and we were there during Christmas Eve. The noise was tremendous and we could not sleep.

The best place we stayed at in India. Super friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Clean room. Spacious room. Even the soap was nice. The staff gave us great recommendations and ensured we were looked after. The A/C unit worked super well and kept our room cool. Ensuite was lovely and clean. Good shower pressure. Wifi was fast and didn't drop out which was a huge bonus as this wasn't the case at other places in India. Couldn't recommend this place enough

This is a really lovely place. Very calm and serene, and very relaxing. The rooms are huge, with (as explained in other reviews) a converted warehouse feel about them. They are not highly finished, with a bit more of a rough and ready feel to them, which suited us just fine. The air conditioning worked very well, and cleanliness was excellent. The location is really excellent too. Very easy to use it as a base to walk around Fort Kochi. I highly recommend walking too, as most of the main sights within a 30 minute walk (maybe 45 minute walk to Jew town). The place is also very close to two of the ferry terminals, to take you to Ernakulum or some of the other islands. Oh, the staff were also very friendly and very helpful.

Nothing really. As explained above, the rooms are not highly finished like a normal hotel. If this puts you off, maybe look elsewhere. This really suited us perfectly though.
