IL Castello Boutique Hotel

The room is beautiful massive with plenty of balcony space. The complimentary breakfast was served to our room every morning and we got to eat on our balcony over looking the stunning view. The room itself is clean, turn down service with chocolate every night Staff is careful with your belongings Shuttle service was offered to our spa day in a range rover velar, we were quiet happy about that. Great Drinks!! Quiet honestly worth the stay and the few minor hiccups

Only things I had an issue with was that the cutlery was unclean, there were flies in our room from arrival until the day we left (fruit flies maybe, they didn't bother us too much other than being there), and the staff had a tendency to be forgetful. And the Carbonara at the Limencello restaurant is more like an Alfredo, it was still pretty good.

Exceptional team, lovely room and brilliant restaurant.

It’s a bit far from the main hubbub of the town but, as the restaurant is so good, we ended up eating in both nights.

Beautiful place, good good The complimentary snacks and champagne offered to guests on New Year’s Eve were a thoughtful and special gesture. These small extras make a big difference and made the evening even more memorable.

The place closes early for dinner, and seeing that we are there for holidays and to hang out with friends, 21:00 is way too early to close. Maybe they can allow guests to hang out in the Lounge till at least 22:30

We spent our last night in South Africa by booking one of the suites - Mona Lisa at this historic castle. The room was very romantic, with an outdoor terrace and a huge private roof deck where we got to stargaze. The check-in process was friendly and efficient, and we were treated to welcome drinks. However, when we were checking out at 10 a.m., there was no one manning the front desk as the staff were in meetings. This was very odd as 10 a.m. is the stated checkout time. Parking was free and available on site. One could also walk to the shops and restaurants in Clarens in about 10-15 mins. The hotel grounds were absolutely gorgeous, but it doesn’t offer any amenities on site such as a pool or spa. Lastly, we really enjoyed the breakfast options, which offered a variety of traditional and Western dishes.

I really appreciate that the hotel encourages guests to be mindful with water usage, but then I found it odd that they continue to offer mini plastic bottles. Most of the hotels we stayed at in SA have converted to large refillable dispensers.
