Close to Duxford. Nice grounds.

The roof creaked in the wind and it was a windy night so this was very annoying. Pilllows were low quality. Light in the wardrobe couldn’t be turned off so made the room bright all night. Room was a long way from reception and car park was a long way from reception. Long walk in the dark. Lucky it wasn’t raining. Poor wayfinding in general around the place. Seems to mainly function as a conference facility rather than a hotel. Shower was poor. Loo roll was low quality. TV quite small and basic. Not the standard expected for the price of £200 per night. Breakfast was standard.

Location and staff

Our room was only made up for 1 person and we had to call reception to get extra towels, glasses etc.. We then had to call reception again as our heating was not working . A lady from housekeeping came and checked it and agreed that our room was cold and she would send somebody from maintenance to sort it out. We are still waiting, having spent a cold night in our room!! We were there for a dinner dance and the venue was not right for a function like this. The tables were set out around a 'doughnut' so you could walk all around the circle and the ceilings were very high. The air conditioning was blasting out cold air all night and cold air from the outside/reception area also came straight in to the 'doughnut. Some people resorted to putting extra clothing on, coats and scarves. What can we say about the food?? it was not very good at all, served on cold plates which had been carried by staff from we are not sure where and hence the food was cold. We complained and they took our food away and brought new plates, some were hot, some were cold and the food on them was no better. All in all, an experience not to be repeated!!!

Beautiful grounds. Very quiet. Nice clean rooms. Excellent reception. Nice breakfast.

Security at the entry barriers was sometimes difficult for taxi drivers to get through as not always manned and sometimes a delay getting attention.
