The staff was hospitable

Poor rooms, foul smell, dirty towels and dirty drinking water. No cleanliness and hygiene.

My cancellation for 2nd day was not approved and not refunded. Booking.com did not help much either. I am getting too many surveys from you. I will think twice on using Booking .com and Shaw Inn again.

The first thing I want to say honestly is that the property does not look as open and grand in reality as the pictures suggest. It is located within a fairly crowded hotel cluster in Gulmarg, and the approach road still seems either under construction or in need of improvement. That said, the location is genuinely convenient. The gondola area is extremely close, almost walkable depending on weather and luggage, which makes things much easier in Gulmarg. And once you actually enter the property, it becomes clear that the hotel itself has been made with a lot of thought. The rooms are genuinely beautiful, especially the bathing area and water fittings. There is attention to detail in the interiors that makes the stay feel comfortable and aesthetically pleasing rather than generic. Captain Mr. Moiz is clearly an exceptionally experienced hospitality professional. He observes guests carefully and adjusts his approach in a very personal and intuitive way. You can tell he understands people, not just hotel operations. The guard, Javed, was also an absolute pleasure to interact with. The warmth and respect with which he dealt with guests genuinely stood out to us. At the end of the day, many hotels can build pretty rooms. Very few create an atmosphere where the people themselves become part of why you remember the stay fondly. This place got that part right. And honestly, they do not need overly flattering pictures to sell the hotel. The property is genuinely nice on its own merit. It just needs more realistic presentation online.

Nothing really. One important suggestion though: the hotel really should consider anti-slip treatment on the stairs. Since there are no lifts for the upper floors, guests use the stairs often, and they felt quite slippery or overly polished, especially in a cold-weather destination where people may already be walking carefully. What truly made the stay memorable, though, was the staff.

The road to the property is horrible. The view from the rooms are of construction site and dirt. Not at all similar to the pictures shown. Went there expecting a boutique hotel with grass and serene surroundings, ended up in the middle of many crowded buildings with no view. Please see pictures from the website vs view from the room.
