J's Nest

From the communication with the property to our stay there, it was all very easy and comfortable. My friends family picked us up at the airport and brought us to the hotel. A little difficult to find but as long as you say CK market, sector 5, Salt Lake then you should make it most of the way. We booked the Deluxe Studio. At least, for Canadians, this would actually be called a one bedroom as the bedroom is separate from the kitchen/living area. Loved the bathroom as it had the shower area separated by a partition from the toilet. There was also soap and shampoo. The TV had netflix that could be viewed without a password and the wifi worked well. We had dinner one night and one breakfast and the food was good. We were there for a wedding so we ate out most other days. There is also a wonderful cafe, called the cafe 82 (which also has a salon attached) and it is only about a 10 minute walk from the property. I cannot eat any spicy food at all and they prepared continental western meals beautifully. J's nest also had a washing machine on the top floor that we used. Any questions we had were always answered promptly by the host. I found the area to be very safe and it is also walking distance to the metro from where you can get to the city center shopping mall. It is important to note that all the metro stations are not up and running with many lines yet to be completed. A rickshaw from CK market to the city centre mall should not be more that 50 INR and the metro is from 10 to 20 INR per person. The area itself is what I thought to be a very quiet part of Calcutta. I missed the fine print that they accept cash only so just keep that in mind. We managed to pay via a bank transfer. Thanks for an enjoyable stay.

We were not aware that it was on the ground floor so the balcony wasn’t ideal for smoking and has lots of mosquitoes.

Location - In a quiet unassuming neighbourhood Staff - The caretaker is very good and helpful without being judgemental. Atmosphere - The atmosphere is chill and there is no one to give you judgmental looks on entry/exit if you are a couple Room - The room was pretty and very well thought of. special mention to the owner for keeping books and that too Agatha Christie books in the shelf Bathroom - The decor of the bathroom was excellent Amenities - With a fridge and microwave, you can actually have a great staycation

It was a nice and comfortable stay in Kolkata. The property is well connected and the neighbourhood is very calm and quiet. This is my third stay in the property. They also provide the luggage storage as per convenient.

Flexibility is less, you can't get an early check-in or late checkout(1-2 hrs) in the property unless you book for an extra day.

Value for money and homely with good hygiene

I did not order the breakfast but the guy was missing in the morning once I decided to have breakfast! Too much of noise in the evening/night outside the room!
