Penventon Park Hotel

This lovely old hotel was a favourite of ours years ago, so we thought we would try it again. The building and decor are olde worlde elegant and still have the yesteryear charm. The room was a good size with everything we needed. Lovely to have the swimming pool downstairs. Food was good too.

Very slippery shower floor and lethally slippy in the pool changing rooms. A lot of hotels seem bent on killing us elderly folk in this way! Drinks before dinner in the lounge was a less elegant experience than it used to be. No waiter service, no mats, and puddles on the tables. So nearly excellent, but not quite!

Staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Disabled parking a bonus when Conferences were in swing.

It was a long trek, up & down stairs, to our room. There was no ‘parkland’ to stroll around as owners have sold it off for house building. The noise from building work on our deck was unacceptable for the room rare we paid.

Room was very nice, bed very comfy. Breakfast was superb and food generally excellent. Staff were all very frienfdly and most helpful.

There was nowhere to walk our dog, although it says park it appears that area has been sold off for houses. There is nowhere nearby where a dog can be let off the lead. Being on the ground floor there was a door which opens on to a small area with two iron chairs, lovely in the day when it could be opened for fresh air but not an option at night. There is no air-conditioning (apart from a fan) and no windows the can be opened.

Good food and the spa was nice to use .

Single rooms to small , no air con . And my room the floor was a bit dirty. Shower didn't drain very well so almost had a flood in the bathroom.

It was hot day, air conditioning should have been thier.

Personal freundlich. Parkplatz. Stahlbett ok. Eigentlich guter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge. Sonst leider nicht viel Positives.

Bemühe mich um Objektivität wie immer. Man denkt, es liegt im Park, ist aber nur im alten Baumbestand. Man bot uns ein Zimmer, Blick auf ein hässliches Dach, daneben eine Abluftanlage. Krümel auf dem Fußboden. Temperatur draußen etwa 16°, Zimmer dennoch überwärmt, es lief ein Ventilator! Nach Rückfrage anderes, kleineres Zimmer (immerhin etwas preiswerter) bekommen, welches offensichtlich sonst als Einzelzimmer vermietet wurde. Blick zum Garten und Parkplatz. Fenster nur gering zu öffnen. Kaum Platz, irgendwas zu verstauen. Also Koffer unters Bett, was immerhin möglich war. Zimmer sehr hellhörig, Nachbarn waren zu hören. Boden knirschte überall. Frühstück okay, aber nicht herausragend, Abendessen teuer, einmal völlig daneben, Steak für 37 £ (well done bestellt) teils verbrannt, neues bekommen, ..na ja. Am 1. Morgen nach 8 Uhr irritierend 2x Feueralarm ohne besonderen Grund. Am 2. Morgen lies der Busfahrer einer deutschen Reisegruppe seinen Motor ab 6:00 Uhr bis 6:30 Uhr vor dem Eingang laufen. Totaler Krach und unangenehme Vibration. Nach Schließen des Fensters immer noch zu laut. Es war an diesen Tagen sehr windig, deswegen ständiges Knistern in der Tür, besser erst nach Einklemmen eines Taschentuchs! Verwinkelte, unansehnliche Flure, kein Aufzug. Einige Krümel lagen auch nach zwei Tagen noch auf dem Boden. 1. totaler Reinfall, das schlechteste Hotel, das wir für etwa 200 € pro Nacht je hatten! Woher die 8,7 Bewertung kommt, uns rätselhaft…
