Dolagawa

This is fantastic place in the middle of jungle. You can swim in the river just in front of it. We had big, spacy appartment on a first floor. The view from tarrace is breath taking. Silence, nature, everything. And very polite and helpful stuff.

This was the best stay we had in all our time in Sri Lanka. Dolagawa Eco Resort is in a very rural location (but still easily accessible with a car/tuktuk driver and google maps) and is completely surrounded by nature. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves when we stayed, so a very peaceful and serene environment! The hosts were on hand when required and served us with Sri Lankan tea, great breakfasts and other good value delicious food. The vegetarian curry was excellent and well presented. The hosts also helped arrange our trip to Sinharaja Rainforest with a knowledgeable local guide. There are no shops, banks or restaurants locally but that is the alure of this place! The view from our balcony, overlooking the pool, forest clad river and waterfalls was amazing, and just a short walk down to explore and swim! At check out, our hosts ensured our easy onward journey by giving us a lift to the local town (Deniyaya) where tuktuks, taxi's and busses can be easily found. 10/10 for everything.

Dolagawa is literally at a paradise location. Away from all the cities in the small village Kiriweldola with a direct view on a big biodiverse forest and scenic mountain views on the ride to the destination. The staff was incredibly hospital and accomodating, there for us 24/7 and since we were there in August out of the main season we had it all for us 3 people, with a personal cook that created delicious dishes. The BBQ was amazing. Room was clean and comfortable, even though no AC and due to the proximity to the rainforest you shouldn't fear geckos and some bugs. But these are all over Sri Lanka. In fact around dolagawa we have seen so many different animals, even wild peacocks in the morning. The pool is refreshing, the views are fantastic and in some parts of the river you can even swim and see some fishes. There is not much to do but even though it rained we just completely enjoyed the nature around us and the nice swinging bed on the balcony. We even extended our stay from 2 to 3 nights because we really enjoyed it so much there, and we also took part in an organised tour through the rainforest with a guide organised by the staff which was amazing and showed real biodiversity. Dolagawa also supports street dog programs and has some cute rescued dogs in their care. We can definitely recommend to stay here and will come back once we are back in Sri Lanka. So many thanks to the staff it was a great stay.

This place is amazing! We totally fell in love wit this place. We booked the big family room upstairs and it is really big with a very nice balcony with amazing views on the river and jungle. The outside lounge bed/swing was favorite by our kids. Breakfast and diner was also great. The owners organised also a tour to Sinharaja rainforest for us with a very good guide. Cooling down in the river in front of the hotel with al the little waterfalls made it perfect. Very good value for your money!

Sfaff and location

The location of Dolagawa is magical. There is a river and a small waterfall where you can swim right next to the resort. We went to the Sinharaja Forest and the host arranged a 3-4 hour tour for us which was really nice. The food was good and the staff was welcoming, helpful and super friendly!
