Stadthotel Santanyi

The location was great and managed to park down the side streets. We liked the hotel on first looks, although the room and private balcony with the shower and furniture appeared nice at first, we did have a lot of issues (please see below)

For the price of the hotel, this was very expensive for what we experienced. The hotel felt strange as it always felt closed only opening to the public for breakfast on market day. It was only staffed for breakfast and on checking in, the reception area felt like you had walked into somewhere not really open and all the lights were off making it dark and feel unwelcoming .The breakfast we received was passable with which was included in the expensive cost. We wanted to use our private balcony on the 1st night for some drinks and nibbles, but was very disappointed to find out that the electrics and lights didn’t work. We then took our food down to the court yard to also find out the lights didn’t work there either, which lead to us using a torch on our phones to eat in the dark. When we walked in and out and when we checked out at night, it was dangerously dark down the stairs and through the courtyard and reception area which again we used our torches. We asked the owner for some lamps, and received candles, but wasn’t effective for even playing cards. When we said in person about the electrics on the balcony, he said he knew and had the work booked in but failed to let us know on check in or offered to compensate us as this was a big feature of the room. We had to ask for an iron and only got given an iron and a towel to iron on the floor!! Locks didn’t work on bathroom door and had a door wedge instead, which in my eye lead to more health and safety concerns as it would have jammed the bathroom door shut incase of an emergency. The room was uncomfortably hot as the air con was terrible and only 1 unit worked. The more you looked around the more you saw that it seemed like they didn’t want spend any money fixing problems, instead they just covered it up. We didn’t feel like we couldn’t bring our issues up with the owner as on other popular review platforms, people said that he turned unpleasant and we didn’t want this to ruin our stay further.

Cute little place right in the heart of beautiful Santanyí. The host family and their employees are very friendly and do everything to comfort their guests. Breakfast was amazing, nothing was missing.

The only thing we didn’t like was that there was no shower in either of our 3 rooms. For my 85 year old mum it was impossible to take a shower in the bathtub.

Hotel wasn’t a working hotel. Was a airbnb in an unmanned hotel. No where to get a drink/ ask questions. Beds uncomfy and crispy towels. Paid for hotel facilities and did not get them.

DO NOT STAY HERE. We were threatened and extorted to pay them money before we were allowed to leave. The owner of the hotel was a horrible person who screamed at us when we were checking out for something that was already broken in their bathroom and forced us to give EUR 100 (against Booking.com policy) or he would call the police and mentioned that he had our passport information. I have never experienced such a traumatic stay at a hotel. Upon checking-in, the owner was incredibly rude and did not help the 1 person bring up 6 bags (no elevator) while the others parked the car. He was not friendly or helpful when we asked about where taxis are and what beaches we should go to. One of the rooms lock was broken and the guest would be locked in from the inside and had to call to be let out because the lock / keys were so old. The bathroom flush mechanism broke upon first use and when we checked out, we made sure the cleaning staff were aware that it was already broken. When we were having breakfast, the owner then publicly berated me for breaking the flush mechanism and forced me to pay him EUR100. He then made a scene when I refused as it was already broken and yelled that we were horrible guests who ruined / broke everything and were disrespectful (mind you we stayed one night and spent less than 1 hour in the hotel aside from sleeping). Santanyi is beautiful and I recommend visiting but DO NOT STAY HERE.

Breakfast and location was wonderful.

It was gorgeous, picture Mama Mia type property! It’s in a fab location, room was amazing we had the suite with private terrace!the breakfast was perfect!

Parking you need to be aware you may have to park a few streets away but it was a huge issue.
