The bed was comfortable.

This place isn't really a hotel at all. It is much more of a guesthouse and not the type of guesthouse that is suitable for tourists but the type that visiting contractors might use. On arrival, there was no signage indicating where reception was, but a small Asian lady exiting one of the buildings pointed the way. Reception was staffed by another small Asian lady, who handed us a paper form marked with crosses indicating the three (from twenty) boxes to write in before very slowly finding a key card containing a hand written room number and programming it for access. The receptionist had no signs of any friendly, welcoming personality, poor communication skills, and interspersed her "handling" of our booking with seemingly argumentative conversations on her mobile her home language. Situated on a busy road in the roughest part of the city, the continuous stream of traffic was littered with youths in balaclava on stolen motorbikes and boy racers with loud exhausts, and regularly punctuated by police cars. The "hotel" itself was tired and rundown, and the decor was tatty. The carpets were threadbare, badly fitted, and scattered with stains. There was damage to many bits of the furniture. The door to the room had a crack around the lock that suggested it had been forced open, and there were signs of mould in the bathroom. When it came to time for checking out, reception was locked, and there was no drop-box for keycards, we left the key in the room and hoped that was acceptable. In conclusion, this "hotel" was amongst the worst we have encountered. Despite being superficially clean, it is scruffy, in a state of disrepair, and offered no breakfast. The staff were minimal, they had no uniform, and they had poor communication skills. We won't stay here again.
