"Basic accommodation.."

6.0

Friendly, helpful and welcoming staff; private and secure parking for two touring motorcycles. Characterful old house, with adjoining pub. Comfortable bedlinen and good-sized bath towels. Good breakfast choices; if local produce was used, it was not advertised. Quiet village.

Tiny shower room. Basic room, but just okay for one night. As it is an old building there is no soundproofing for the bedrooms. No hand soap/liquid in dispenser; best for housekeeping to check these if the level is not visible. Expensive for what you get.

"Simple clean B&B"

5.0

Clean, simple and small accomodation that we booked to stay overnight before fishing there.

Breakfast was served only from 9 am, but we couldn’t wait until so late, so we were promised “continental breakfast“ earlier. But when we went to the room with breakfast only bananas and oranges were there. And milk.

"Many Positives, but sadly, not for me."

5.0

I've delayed writing this review because I want to be totally fair, but also honest about my experience in both positive & negative issues. The staff are wonderfully friendly & helpful. The breakfast was soo good & the full Irish cooked & presented beautifully. I loved it! The general atmosphere in the breakfast room was so friendly, even among the guests. The ensuite shower is excellent in terms of size & the strength of the water flow. It could do with a non-slip shower mat in it for safety. Bathroom was clean & good towels provided. It's great to have a kettle in the room, & a TV. The host very kindly allowed me to check in early despite my not requesting it. There's a hairdryer at reception (though it has to be brought back immediately after use). An iron can also be requested at reception.

However, there were issues & while I'm loathe to give negative reviews I need to address them here: the accommodation, in general aesthetics, is basic in the rooms; the entrance & halls smell so musty; it's a very old building which will be very quaint when this is addressed. ; my duvet cover was ripped at top right side letting the old duvet protrude; & the biggest issue was the toilet seat actually separating from the lid connector & sliding off. Let's just say, when this happened , I was ex situ very quickly & alarmingly I reported this to a staff member before leaving. Securely fitted toilet seats are a health & safety issue. Finally, my room was above a bar, it was so noisy which made sleep impossible until the early hours. I felt exhausted. However, I think there are bedrooms not above the bar, so maybe I should have requested one but I had been told at check in that they were booked out that night. It was only for one night as I was between two other longer stays in rural settings on the coast. I'm sure many people love & would love everything about this property, it's just not for me. As a solo traveller I paid €102+ for one night & that's excessive for what's on offer, & in my experience of it.

"Warm, welcoming place to stay, close to all local amenities. Great hosts and brilliant breakfast!"

9.0

Extremely friendly hosts, John at check-in was especially helpful. Lovely room with wonderfully comfortable beds.

Not a problem, really, but I would have liked a more powerful shower as it was very slow with low water pressure. It was lovely and hot though.
