The hotel is reasonably central in Torquay town centre but beware it is a steep climb from the Tor Abbey Sands seafront (if you come on foot from Torquay railway station). The (Tor)Quay front and marina is about 10 minutes on foot downhill from the hotel passing by lots of retail stores and bars. The hotel buildings cover a lot of ground on various levels with lots of common areas on the ground floor. The bedroom I got is in a wing at the back of the hotel on the top floor overlooking a small car park but it offered privacy and calmness. The hotel does not serve a buffet breakfast and a member of the catering team will come round taking your order. A choice of a cereal in a bowl, a cooked english breakfast and toast is provided. It is not a grand affair but sufficient and good. All the staff I spoke with are all very friendly.

The decoration of the hotel is stuck in the 1970s/1980s but you can see this from the photos so there are no surprises. The mattresses of one of the beds in my bedroom is a bit out of shape and was annoying. There was no chair in the bedroom so it meant I had to sit on the bedspread of one of the twin beds to "relax" in my room. There is no wall hooks to hang up bags or outdoor jackets near to the bedroom door or bathroom door. Please add some! Good breakfast as mentioned but the spoons, forks and knives really need changing. They're showing their age through heavy use over the decades(!?!)

An overall fantastic venue, with a brilliant rate and superb staff. The breakfast was also top notch, and included in the price!

Always stay at this hotel. Great breakfast. Superb value for money.
