Yandina Hotel

Great location. Nice old historic building with high ceilings. Also loved the upstairs verandas for guests. Bathroom fixtures are a bit old, which was fine. Very clean. Happy to stay there again.

The food was good and service from most of the staff was friendly. The bed was comfortable and clean. Share bathroom was clean.

The french doors to the verandah couldn't be closed, and there is no lock. Curtains were old and did not block out street lights and lights on the verandah. The PowerPoint was too low for the kettle, so I had to boil the kettle on the floor. Tea bags smelt old. Old carpet with stain marks. Just don't think $180 for this accommodation is good value.

The room and the facilities were fine and the staff very friendly. The location suited us for what we were doing.

The music and general noise was very loud late into the night. I realise that it was a Friday but at the price being charged we thought it should have been a lot quieter in the room. Maybe they could offer a reduced tariff for the noisy nights?

The food was great and one staff member was very good.

Everything else was not very good. When they advertise they only show one picture of their best room of a bed, small fridge and coffee making facilities. Silly me for thinking this was there budget room. The whole hotel smelled and wasn't clean. I came out of my room to use the bathroom there was a patron I had seen downstairs earlier wondering around upstairs, and when he saw me he went back downstairs. The door that lead onto the verandah from our room didn’t close so you couldn’t lock it. The bathroom was very basic with nothing to put your clothes or stuff on while you showered. There were no shower mats or face washers. Those little things that are usually standard everywhere else are not at the Yandina Hotel. The wall in the toilet above the toilet roll holder looked like someone had picked their nose and wiped it on the wall, and they don't believe in cleaning behind doors. Later on that night some drunken people were on the verandah and started knocking on our door, remember the one that didn’t lock. About 6 o'clock the next morning I opened the door to use bathroom and someone was trying to get into my room, must have been a little confused? The food was great but the staff not so much. One male staff member was very good and very helpful, the others not so much. Another male staff member finished serving a customer then turned his back to me and gazed out into another bar for sometime before he decided to serve me. The hotel looks like it is run by men, maybe they need a females touch?? They also fail to mention there is a train station right across the road so needless to say you don't get much sleep, it's a very noisy area. We were booked to stay 2 nights but packed up the next morning and left and they never enquired as to why.
