The receptionist was very friendly & welcoming despite having limited English. The hotel took our motorbike into the hotel at night as per their safety policy which was very helpful.

Unfortunately we were overcharged for the room and informed that we had not made a booking via booking.com despite providing the booking reference number and screenshot of the booking confirmation. On check in we attempted to explain to the receptionist that we had tried to change our booking dates on booking.com twice but had no contact from the hotel, & perhaps this was why the booking was not coming up on their system. We were not given an option to choose a room and were given the most expensive ‘VIP’ room on check in. We were unaware of this until checking out however.

Perfect for what I came for, a place to sleep in the little town of Lao Bao. Very seventies country hotel vibe. The lovely staff in the lobby booked a cheap bus for me to Hue from Lao Bao the day after.

This was a good location for me to do my visa run to Lao. The room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was ok. Staff were help full. When I arrived I had booked one night, then paid for 2 nights as I didn’t know how long it would take to do my visa run. But as it turn out I was back at the hotel by 10am so decided to move on. And to the hotel staff credit they offer to pay back the money I had paid for the extra night. And I was happy for them to keep the money.

I had a cold shower, but thinking today I might not have turn the water heater on. Plus bad drainage in the bathroom.

Nothing.

It’s an overpriced dump that pretends to be fancy. The area is dodgy, the AC barely works, the bathroom is dirty. The ladies working there are INCREDIBLY rude. I was extremely shocked to find out that they don’t even offer ONE complimentary bottle of water. It makes you think that it’s free and then they charge you. Even the worst place in Vietnam offers at least one small bottle. Charging this much money for a dump like this and not even offering guest one bottle is an absolute joke.

Warning: Staff insults and threatens guests! By far the worst hotel experience of my Vietnam trip. I can only strongly advise against visiting the hotel. Please protect yourself from such an experience. I was just insulted and threatened by the staff (owner) at the Dao Hung Hotel. Facts: there was a strong smell of cigarettes in two rooms. In each room is a no smoking sign but in each room was an Ashtray. A room was than offered that smelled ok. However, the air conditioning there was broken during the night and had switched itself off again and again with an error message. It had nothing to do with the timer function. It was unbearably warm in the room. It was a very uncomfortable night without much sleep. I couldn't be helped. When asked for compensation, only a Pepsi can was offered to me. I told polite that I m not satisfied with that compensation. After I asked for a 30% discount (the bill must be paid in advance) the staff was indignant and insulted and threatened me. I told that by a behavior like that I ll let the police to get involved. But there was not enough time I left quickly to avoid a physical confrontation! Absolutely outrageous behavior. What ever the hotel will answer to my statement, be warned of that people who working there! I contact the customer service of booking.com and they supported me.
