Schatzi's Hideaway

The room was very simple but clean. But for that price we didn't expect anything else. The owner was very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast. It's ridiculous to ask $4 USD for one(!) egg and tiny bit of pineapple in Sri Lanka (whole pineapple costs Rs. 15 Sri Lanka rupees and 10 eggs about Rs. 50... what's like $0.2 USD)

The staff are very friendly and helpful, . It has a very good location. The room is very clean and comfortable and the bathroom is very nice. I have dinner there and it is the best meal I have had in Sri Lanka, very delicious.

One of my best stays in Sri Lanka yet ! Ishara and his wife have a beautiful home surrounded by nature, which is only a five minute walk from a beautiful and secluded beach! The room was very big and clean, as well as the bathroom. They went above and beyond to help with everything and made an amazing dinner for me, including teaching me how to make it. In the end they even drove me to my next destination. If you are in tangalle, you have to stay here, 10/10 recommend. Will definitely be back !!

Very very nice people, would always come again. Bed was a bit uncomfortable, but for this price definitely still super good! The hosts were so nice, the breakfast was delicious and they even showed us how to cook traditional Sri Lankian Hoppers! 😍

Very nice hosts, and fair price and quality. We could rent a scooter with them for a fair price little bit more expensive then we rented before but still good! He also arranged a jeep safari in yala with his brother en also brought us to Ella. Very nice people and would really recommend it! Also de serve dinner wich is very tasty and fair price.

Location was little further away from beaches and town, you need a tuck tuck or scooter to move around. A tip: a floor scrapper in the shower to get rid of the water

Personnel is great

the house itself is beautiful and built firmly and looks simple white modern style. Owner is experienced person, fluent English speaker so you can discuss many interesting things about Sri Lanka with him. He also being distributor of the Tea and you can buy nice local tea by very good price. provided kayaks even though felt boring for me, but the option to have kayaks itself is very good to have.

you need to plan what will you do, cause location is quite far from the Tangalle beach, but in other hand place is quite and good for taking breath if you tired from active actions. but again, my personal understanding is that place itself doesnt offer much options how to spend your time, you need to carry of that yourself. and again - totally personal issue - is to find a place to eat nearby.
