Dormy House

Lovely location just a short walk down a narrow road into the town. Room was nice, although a bit hot at night. Really enjoyed having a drink on the terrace with a fantastic view. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a little expensive (22 euros) and maybe it was worth it but we went to the Weekend cafe and had bread/croissant/coffee instead.

Der Aussenbereich mit dem galaktischen Blick aufs Meer war sensationell. Der kurze Weg runter ins Dorf und an den Strand war super. Das Frühstück war sehr gut, der Parkplatz diekt am Hotel war genial. Der Preis ist zwar hoch aber durchaus gerechtfertigt. Essen kann man sehr gut dort, das Menü kostete 35 € pro Person (3 Gänge). Es gibt gut ausgebildetes Personal, das gefiel uns.

Fantastic views

Personal inefficient with low English language skills

We had a beautiful room overlooking the sea and the town. The room had a small table and two comfortable chairs and a small refrigerator.

Our stay at Dormy House was a special splurge and we loved every minute of it. The location and staff are exceptional. It was wonderful to open our French windows and hear the surf crashing on the beach. We also treated ourselves to a fancy French dinner at the restaurant and it was lovely and delicious. And for what we got, it wasn’t even a bad value, especially compared to how expensive U.S. restaurants have become these days.

 A caveat: once we got to Dormy House, our experience was terrific. But finding it was quite the headache. When you enter town, you can easily see the hotel up on the hill. The mystery is how to drive up there. The first entrance we (thought) we found had a sign saying “Dormy House” but was closed with a gate. We drove around a little and asked Google Maps again. This time Google directed us a little out of town and up a small, narrow lane into the woods. This didn’t seem right so we turned around, parked down at the main road, exchanged many heated words among the four of us, and consulted Google again. It took us back up the little lane, which goes to the golf course. A ways up you come to a fork in the road. The left side is marked for the golf course. The right side is unmarked and has a gate. Take the right fork. How you get the gate to lift is the second mystery. We ended up following another car in. Leave the same way you entered, the gate lifts automatically on exit. It’s a good thing the hotel and its staff were so lovely, because we were so frazzled by the time we arrived you could probably see the smoke rising from our heads. After a rough start, everything else was excellent.

La vue, la situation, le calme, la grandeur de la chambre, le parking

Pas de frigo, lit très mal fait, moquette tachée, mobilier désuet, linge douche et mains, pas de lavette et pas de linge intermédiaire. Déçus par le resto le bistrot, seul poisson su saumon alors que la Normandie regorge de poisson un peu moins conventionnel
