Balintore Inn

We booked this hotel a week before, following a cancellation at another hotel nearby. It was our first night of driving the NC500. The weather was cold wet and windy so we were slightly apprehensive upon arrival. Our doubts were quickly gone. The hotel has an excellent location right on the sea front (when the weather is good). It is clean and comfortable. The food was superb. The staff were extremely friendly. We ate well, enjoyed the live music, slept and continued on our journey next morning feeling very refreshed. We would definitely consider staying there again.

Tired facilities - no ventilation so damp smelling.. TV did not work. Pub closed early and staff not readily available

Excellent location. Food on the evening was very good indeed. Lovely bar area and beer garden for when they get the nice weather. Breakfast was good also. The room was very comfortable but a little chilly and for a room with a view - the view was the 3 gas holders at the back of the pub. We were staying for one night only so not a problem, but if we had been staying for a few days or a week I wouldn't have been happy.

Room was not a Deluxe Triple Room. Size on booking was stated to be 275 sq. ft., it was not much more than 150 sq. ft. Of the numerous photos of a D T R, only the first 3 showed parts of our room, the reaming 15 or so photographs showed a much larger room, which I expected for £170. While we were having breakfast another resident complained about his similar room to the owner but he was basically told "take it or leave it". Room was not "soundproof", I could hear snoring from next room. Room was not part of Hotel building, it was separate, 30 yards up a deep gravel slope. Breakfast was minimal in choice and only served from 7am to 8am, again not what would be expected for £170. My evening meal was overcooked peas, and predominantly French fries, but scampi was good. Lady who served us was efficient, but otherwise not a good impression of staff / owners. Not "friendly".

Great location right in the water in the middle of the seaside villages. Great food, drinks and staff is very attentive. Maria went out of her way to make recommendations and was super friendly. As a solo traveler that means a lot. The room was well appointed and very comfortable. Breakfast served by owner Mike was made to order and fresh and delicious. I highly recommend staying here is you want a personal experience and something out of the ordinary.
