The breakfast was good. Spa was excellent

Stylish hotel, nice rooms in a lovely ground. Spa was good. Room was spacious, comfortable and quiet.

We had very bad food at the Clockwork restaurant. Worse meal out in a long time (dinner). Had the Scallops for stater (£16) - Dish looked very unappealing (greenish mass in a shell with a little roast cheese on top. Scallops were the tiny ones you normally get frozen and had no texture or taste. Main course was worse, we took the sole Meuniere (£22) to which we had to add side dishes (£6.5 each).. The fish looked uncooked, swimming in a pool of butter/oil with a few capers on top. Butter and capers had not been cooked with the fish and had no taste. The fish appeared to have been cooked by itself in a microwave or steam oven (which is not a Sole Meuniere). I took a medium glass of Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough NZ which was very average (£12 for a medium glass). My wife had a non alcoholic wine which she could not drink (very sweet/horrible) £6 for a small glass. Dessert was decent (one panacotta). Total bill came up at £116. I complained but no one seemed interested. Breakfast service was slow, mistakes were made with our order and the food was again average at best (cooked breakfast was bland).

The roof top spa was fantastic

The clock tower restaurant evening meal was disgusting and inedible. Microwave food at best! They need to contract out that restaurant to someone who cares and knows about food and it really is the only thing letting it down.

Food was good. However the prices very high and do not equate to the standard of the food.

Loved everything about the hotel and our stay. Exceptional service and attentive staff. Excellent room, dining experience, grounds and facilities. Definitely booking again.
