Hotel Grand Khalifa

The location of the hotel is not too bad but that is not enough to bear with all the minus.

The hotel is managed very badly by inexperienced staff. When we reached, the receptionist didn't even know we had a reservation. No warmth of any kind. The breakfast is extremely poor and served late in a very awful ambience. No wifi available although they manager assured it was. The terrace is one floor up to the breakfast counter (?) and you don't feel to have your meal there as it is neglected and not well kept. Absolutely disappointing in every aspect. The swimming pool is a tiny one on the first floor sort of terrace. All around lot of renovation works made it dusty and noisy the already not inviting ambience. A couple of gas cylinders were kept right at the entrance and none bother to remove there for the last two days.

Property gives what it offers. Best thing is to sit on the roof top and have a mesmerising view of Jaisalmer fort. Khan bhai and staff in general are always around to help guests.

Increase in breakfast spread will be highly appreciated

There's a strong smell of the canal coming from the washroom.

This was a good hotel in a very central location. If you want to stay in central Jaisalmer just below the fort and walkable to everything, this is a good option out of very few with outdoor pools. We loved the rooftop pool - Jaisalmer is very hot so this was a real plus for us and the pool is really lovely. We also liked the rooftop terrace for sunset drinks. Our room was very large and comfortable. We only ate lunch at the hotel but the food was very good.

Although the staff were friendly and ready to provide whatever we asked for, a little more attention to detail/anticipation of guests' needs would improve this hotel immeasurably e.g. pool towels left out ready rather than having to ask every day; all pool loungers having cushions on them rather than only 2 out of 5; toilet paper provided in the room/common bathrooms rather than having to request this (we were told this was an oversight in our room preparation when we mentioned it, but neither of the two common bathrooms had any either); enough breakfast tables placed in the shade so that all guests can be accommodated easily without a wait. These are small issues and easily fixed.

I was really impressed by the unique atmosphere of this traditional hotel with its unique fort-view from all of its several rooftop terraces. On top to that more than generous size of the rooms (we had two different Deluxe Studios). Everything zas clean and the staff more than helpful and ready to fulfill our wishes. The hotel is in walking distance from the fort. Would recomend, thats 4 sure.
