The Atholl Palace

The room was lovely very spacious, and a great view down the valley from our window. The hotel itself was also lovely just a shame about the staff! The grounds were well kept and a nice fountain and little bridge, also a museum in the basement which was novel. Comfortable bed and nice big bathroom. The evening meal was tasty and nicely presented - however the dining table just had 2 knives and 2 forks on! No cloth napkins either. - Would we go again - sorry no.

The staff here were mainly non scottish but that doesn't matter the problem with the staff was none of them were happy! They were rude and just plain disinterested! The poor girl at the bar who was scottish and knew what she was doing was so inundated with orders as she was running it solo. It took 20 minutes to get 1 beer, another member of staff turned up to help but she was useless and gave me change from a £20 note of £2 overcharging me by £10 - This was rectified. Then it took another 20 minutes to get 2 more drinks, we went into the dining room for dinner and waited a further 30 minutes before saying to the head waiter shall we go out to the bar to get a drink! He realised and said no, I can get you a drink. There was no side plates or bread knives on the table, the butter came in 2 small blocks of anchor butter wrapped in its own packaging. For a hotel of this status we found this very poor to be served "unserved" in this manner. The coffee pot in the morning was plonked - bang on the table, no smile from any staff that day either. They all look totally unhappy in their work. Never saw them smile or interact with any of the diners, or even each other.

A beautiful setting and the gardens were lovely. Very relaxing. Our room was comfortable and clean. We had a valley view room which I would recommend. The views are spectacular. Had a really fun evening in The Stag’s Head with music from Chris White. Such a talent and so much fun.

The food wasn’t great. My venison was overcooked. The breakfast was terrible. If you don’t like a cooked breakfast there is not much to eat apart from cheap bread and rolls, and a limited selection of fruit and yogurts.

Bodde i ett tornrum som var otroligt fint.

Frukosten var under all kritik. Saker tog slut och de som arbetade i matsalen var inte hjälpsamma. Vi fick faktiskt hungriga därifrån.
