Cold inside the room, far away from Joshimath

The hotel is located between Josimath and Auli, (the taxi costed 750INR one way to go to Auli and can be booked at the reception). The location is very calm and one has a beautiful view on the Himalaja mountains peaking on the opposite side of the valley. The hotel staff did fulfill all our wishes and was very helpful. One guy was speaking very good English and he was available on the phone all the time helping us sorting out the communications with locals during our hiking trip in Auli. The food was delicious Indian food and since we had to leave early on our last day they packed us a nice breakfast.

The location is wrong on booking.com, use the location on google maps. The room cleanness was ok for Indian standards, but not very clean. However, they changed the bed sheets on our request when we arrived and there were some hairs on them. For hiking beyond the cable car station a local guide is required by the forest department. It would have been helpful to know this in advance because many guides were making us offers on the way up but when calling the hotel staff they told us that no guide is needed. Finally they got us the correct information, but then we wasted already some time waiting at the forest department checkpoint.

The staff was very courteous and helpful. The food was really good and the service was prompt . The location is good,and the view gets better when it snows. It snowed heavily the day we were leaving causing great difficulty getting our vehicle out. However we had great help from the staff and a few locals who helped us navigate our vehicle safely .
