Art Villa

The property was a great price for what you get. The room had a fridge/microwave/coffee machine setup. AC wasn’t strong enough in the first room but they moved me to another room and it worked good along with the WiFi. The shower worked great, hot water only took a minute to heat up. The room was clean and cutely decorated. Had a nice chair I could relax in and view the pool and grounds of the apartments next door. No problems using the address to locate the place. It’s only a 5 minute walk to several restaurants (Citrus, Bella Napoli) /bars (Kat’s Corner has a band on weekends) and grocery store (Supermercado Ciccolella) and a few minutes further to the beach. It’s a 10 minute walk to Villa Blanca Beach Club which is free to sit at the lounge/umbrella setups- just buy a drink or snack. Next to that is Flamingo Bar and the tourist shopping market. The staff were very helpful and made the stay even more pleasant.

The street C. Aida Cartagena Portalatin can seem a bit shady, but I walked it as a single female in the evening from dinner and had no issues. You can always take the main street Ave. Alemania. For the hotel itself, just replace the pillows (old/stained under the pillowcase) and use a second pillow case for hygiene. This is an issue for so many hotels I’ve been to. I actually travel with my own hypoallergenic pillowcase.

Huge room with very comfortable bed. Walking distance to everywhere. Staff was welcoming and helpful.

The shower/toilet could be updated.

Great location very close to the beach, with many restaurants near by. Breakfast is good and staff is very friendly. Great cost-benefit.

This was a last-minute emergency booking, so we only wanted a clean place in a decent neighborhood. It was only a short walk to a public beach and there were a few bars and restaurants in the vicinity. The hotel seems to be in the process of upgrading and was clean. The manager (Alex) was very kind, polite, and conversant in many languages. Breakfast was simple but tasty, and it was convenient for us to eat at the hotel.

There was no hot water (one of the boilers had failed and needed repair); to compensate, we were not charged for breakfast. We chose an upstairs room and there was a lot of street noise between 10pm and 2am. Don't believe tourists should be outside in this neighborhood after 7 or 8pm. The address is a bit confusing. We were told the hotel used to have an address on Calle Russia, but now it is only identified as being "at the corner of" the two intersecting streets. Taxi drivers had a bit of trouble finding it.

Very fast check-in and helpful staff. The room was simple and clean. A/C and WIFI was good as well.
