Hotel St. Naum

Very nice location, nice rooms.

The bedroom suite was as advertised and very spacious. The lake view did not exist unless you stood up and peered outside the windows so there was no view - let alone lake view - most of the time from inside the room. The breakfast was adequate and I felt the hotel was trying. The fresh fruit was kept in the fridge and was cold to the touch when put out. The first apple I threw away as it was rotten in parts. The second day - the apple was worse and I left it in the fruit bowl. Half was rotten.

The beaches at the hotel were packed like sardines with full coaches arriving from 09.00 in the morning and off loading huge numbers who sat under umbrellas on deck chairs almost touching due to the congestion! There were tents with people camping in the grounds. Plus mobile homes and caravans right next to them. But for the hotel residents there were no spaces in the grounds with benches and tables set aside to be enjoyed though right outside the hotel - right next to the wall there were a few places to sit in the outdoors though not in the grounds and on grass with lake view and with any privacy. The restaurant not only closed very early in the evening but there appeared to be no bar of facilities in the evening after about 7.30-8-00. Plus the one or two other eating places in the grounds nearby were the same. Since it was a 45 minute bus trip to town it would be best to do what the knowing locals do. Stay in town and come for the day in one of the many full coaches that seem to have mostly gone by 18.00. The cleaners came every day but not to clean. They provided soap and toilet paper but in 4 days of staying in a suite with lake view they did not make the bed, wash a glass or replace a towel! Whew! I had not expected that. Still - for the space and if you have your own car and are driving and especially for those with very young children who cannot do anything in the evening anyway - of which they were a few- this is obviously a popular option. Finally - with temperatures hitting 35- my suite with lake view had no air conditioning and no fans was provided. This hotel has huge unrealised potential and will eventually be taken over by a company which will knock it into luxury shape at such a price that most of us could never experience it and so for that reason some might want to go for one night to experience it while possible!
