Nothing it was great

This is a charming Gasthaus in a beautiful location in the Schwarzwald. The host was very friendly and helpful, the room was very large and comfortable and had a beautiful view and a cute balcony to sit on. The whole place was decorated with a very cozy feel. The nice robes in the room was a nice touch. The breakfast was amazing, delicious, with so much variety, and everyone was so friendly! There was also convenient parking right behind the Gasthaus.

The breakfast was excellent. Nice fresh bread, meats and cheeses. The evening meals were exceptional. Service was great.

We were on the top floor under the sloping roof. very typical and beautiful. But I did not like the shower/bath since it was a sloping roof, it was difficult to stand up.

We had driven quite a long way to reach this hotel, around 360 miles and were looking forward to a quiet evening, a relax and a meal in the restaurant. Sadly we chose the wrong day of the week for this, as the reception and restaurant was closed. This information was detailed under the 'covid safety information' on the hotels information, and a sign had been put on the doors to the hotel. Unfortunately the door had been left open so we didn't notice the sign until we had been waiting at a very quiet reception for 10 minutes ! Car parking at the hotel is good, with it's own private car park at the rear, and the notice detailed collecting our room key from the tavern next door. All okay, but at 17.30 the tavern was very crowded and it took a while to speak to the busy landlady and obtain our key. This would have been all okay if we hadn't been feeling so worn out, and then we had to make the decision to eat in the tavern that night, as the hotel restaurant was closed. The furnishings, rooms and balconies at the hotel are lovely, as was the proprietor when we met her the following morning. I would definitely recommend this hotel for any other nights apart from Monday and Tuesday ! They did a fantastic breakfast, and our room was spacious and comfortable and spacious.

Just the one niggle with the reception and restaurant being closed on the night we stayed, but I should state the owners had done their best to make visitors aware, but perhaps a note on the reception desk would have been good. We did manage to have a good meal at the tavern next door, with the very helpful (if extremely busy) landlady.

The room was very clean and quite comfortable. The balcony was decked with flowers which was pretty. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The restaurant was very well decorated and traditional.

Parking was limited for a hotel of this size. Reception was not always manned and payment was slow as the reception was empty. It was the only hotel of 11 where the bill was not what Booking .com said it should be.
