The Villa Hotel

Location is superb at the heart of the Unawatuna. Food is good. Candle light dinner is awesome.

Stayed here a few years ago beautiful rooms and great food always rooms are spotless

Unfortunately it’s now overrun with very rude Russians

The hotel was perfectly located on the beach and very close to the Main Street of Unawatuna for all the restaurants. The staff particularly Sunil and the head waiter (sorry didn’t get his name) were amazing nothing was too much trouble for them they looked after us from putting our towels on our sunbeds, decorating our bedroom, taking our washing to the laundry. Sunil even travelling on Christmas day an hour to Mirissa to bring and necklace I had left which I was so grateful for. The restaurant was also really good situated on the beach.

The room was very quiet beautiful and very comfortable and clean.

The hot water was not very hot and the water pressure was very low, just a dribble really. The TV in the room was very small and you couldn’t really see it from the bed. There was also no chair in the room so the only place to sit was the bed. The level of service was not to the level I have come to expect in Sri Lanka. On several occasions I found it difficult to get the staff’s attention even though there were not many people in the place. The manager ( I assume as he was barking orders at people) who never really introduced himself to me even when I checked in; was clearly very sick and was coughing all over the place without ever attempting to cover his cough with his hand. At one point I saw him coughing over napkins he was about to put out on the tables. I wonder how many people got sick after that. This, along with the price made me want to eat outside of the resort.
