We arrived one minute late for check-in after a six-hour drive with a small child, and things went downhill from there. I had called ahead, and they assured me they’d sent an email with a code to enter the hotel. The email? It arrived the next morning at 7:38 a.m. Brilliant timing. Thankfully, we were guided into the hotel by a girl on the phone. Our room was on the third floor, number 15, and our simple request for an extra bed for a 7-year-old was apparently too much to handle. The first shock hit us when we stepped into the room: the temperature inside was barely warmer than the 1°C outdoors. Two radiators, completely off. The “extra bed”? Just a matt, no bedsheets, no pillow, no blanket. We called the hotel again to deal with the heating. A man arrived at 10:30 p.m. to “fix” it, but of course, it was too late for the heating to make any real difference. It was clear they’d simply forgotten to turn it on earlier—just as they’d forgotten to clean the radiators, which looked like they hadn’t seen a duster in years. As for the bathroom? No heating at all. At 10. 40 p.m., the man was still in the room setting up the bed for the child. The beds were uncomfortable beyond words, the covers were more suited to a summer camping trip than a freezing winter night, and with no functioning heating, we ended up sleeping in pullovers and jackets. For this privilege, we paid 80 euros per night. For context, a 4-star hotel in Düsseldorf costs around 100 euros per night. If only we’d booked earlier! To summarize: this property offers you cold rooms, poor preparation, nonexistent comfort, and a complete lack of value for money. Avoid at all costs.
