Hotel Posada Don Matías

Picked this hotel for the location and decor. However, there was no working wifi and they did NOTHING to fix it in a week. Rooms are ok but noisy. The worst part was how rude and careless the lady at the front desk was. Would not help an 80 yo carry her suit case upstairs. Never again.

Hotel is located within walking distance of the Zocalo, Juarez Market, tons of restaurants and bars. The only downside is hot water is only available for 3 hours in the morning then 3 hours in the evening.

Great location in the city centre and close to a famous food market. Super nice staff. Clean room.

No hairdryer. The room’s window faced a shared balcony facing an internal courtyard, therefore we didn’t really have much light and we felt uncomfortable opening it because other guests would have to walk past to go to their bedrooms. The bed was ok but maybe a bit small for two people. We’re really good with noise, but it got quite loud at times, you might want to consider that if you have light sleep.

I thought the interior was very mexican, colorful, fulll of flowers. Other than that the roorm is big and spacious and bathroom is clean. The location is certainly the best asset. you can walk your way into pretty much every major attraction and it is dangerouly close to the market where you can grab you breakfast. I would recommend to have your breakfast at mayordomo which is 1 block away. The only downside in my opinion is that my room was upstairs and it got too hot from the heat from the roof.No much ventilation on the room. Next time, i will stay in a room downstairs.

Located in the historical centre of Oaxaca Posada Don Matias is the perfect place to stay. Walk to all the markets, the zocalo, even to the bus station. The staff were helpful and friendly; the hotel was clean and beautifully decorated. Our room was very comfortable (best bed in our month in Mexico) with a great ensuite bathroom. But.... book early and for your entire stay. We wanted to extend but it was fully booked so had to move which wasn’t as good.

Stayed there with my brother on a trip to see Monte Alban. Walking distance from the zocalo, shops, mercados and plenty of wonderful restaurants. Very friendly staff, great location. Parking was in a lot around the corner, included in the price. Unfortunately not pet friendly. I wasn't traveling with my dog this time so it was no problem, but I usually do and probably can't return for that reason.
