Hotel Forsthaus

Charming, well-appointed hotel set into the forest, with friendly, helpful staff. We could access trails from the hotel or take the National Park tram deeper into the park to access additional trails.

Wifi was spotty.

The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and super nice. We tried their valentine's menu for our wedding anniversary and it was exceptional. The location is great with access to a lot of great views and great hikes.

The bed was with two separate mattresses which was a bit uncomfortable for me and my partner. It is somewhat difficult to get there if you don't own a car as public transport works for a short time during the evenings.

Warm welcome and big plates of food. Soup for starters (great flavours, would have preferred it hot, but wasn’t a big deal). For my main I had a dish that came from the surrounding woods (venison with foraged mushrooms with noodles). Was divine. Three of us all enjoyed 3 courses.

Beautiful location, nice vintage rooms (vintage, but well renewed), all the spaces nicely decorated - very cozy and welcoming; very tasty food (both breakfast and restaurant meals). But what made our stay absolutely unforgettable is the staff - everyone were so friendly and made us feel very welcome! We had a bit of a problem - our return train ticket was early in the morning, und unfortunately the first bus from the hotel to Bad Schandau was scheduled later, so we tried to book a taxi, but there were no available taxies anymore. We thought that we will unfortunately have to walk to Bad Schandau on foot (which would take us 1.5 h), but the owner of the hotel volunteered to drive us himself!! So we had a breakfast and then he drove is to the Bad Schandau train station and we safely came back home. Thank you very much for all the support and attention, the stay and the whole experience was exceptional.

We stayed here while hiking the Malerweg, and did not choose the hotel ourselfs. We would most likely not choose this hotel again. The place is not in Bad Schandau, but at good bit out of the city center. The busstop is right out side though, leds than 10 meters When We checked in, we were greeted in a very friendly manner, and received all the needed information. The hotel is not new, but very clean. The restaurant is not bad, but not very good either. What is worse, is that value for money is way off. It is way to expensive for what it is.

We went there on our hike on the "Malerweg" through the Saxon Switzerland. Coming from the "Brand-Baude" our last night sleepover we were not really spoiled. But we had a warm welcome, a nice and simple room, friendly staff and good, regional food within a good price-performance ratio. When we asked to use the sauna, it took an hour to heat it up, but we had it for us and it is worth the visit. We will come back, when we plan our next adventures in the mountains over there.

My daughter and I stayed 3 nights in this hotel in the beginning of April. We were a bit nervous because we spoke little German and relied on my friends from Berlin to arrange it for us. We needn't have been because the staff were really lovely and helped us a great deal to find our way around this great area. The hotel was in the perfect location for us and we could walk from the door or get a bus and tram so easily which enabled us to walk further afield. It was really relaxing and on easter Sunday we were thrilled to see the garden transformed into a chocolate egg and bunny wonderland! We also loved the food and restaurant. This area is little known to English travellers. I was so impressed with the landscape and especially the rock outcrops often with pubs on the top of them. I'll definatly be back.

A very quiet location but the tram stop is opposite which takes you down to a lovely town. Very friendly staff with good buffet breakfast and evening meals. Its beautifully cared for with flowers everywhere and good seating areas outside.

We were there for a little hiking trip and it was really nice. You can start different routes from there and the staff will gladly help you plan them. They have a cute little sauna for evening relaxation and the rooms are nice and clean. Only the food is a bit meh...but thats the case in all of the restaurants we went to in the region so it seems to be the standard here. Otherwise very recommended!
