The walk down the lane to get to the hotel was ‘rustic’, but that’s the charm of Bali, and it looks like there are pavers going in at some point.
AUFantastic location right on waterfront. Large raised sand terrace with lots of sun loungers overlooking the dive boats, surf break and Mt Agung. Beautiful infinity edge pool also overlooking ocean. Beautiful rooms, modern but still with local atmosphere set in perfect gardens. Best breakfast selection I have ever seen at a hotel. Fantastic surfy bar Mola Mola is a short walk along beach, has icy beers, great food as does the fish market Warung and French Bakery up on the Main Street.

IDPemedal is satisfactory and nothing more. The rooms and the breakfast are adequate, so you won’t have any overt complaints after a stay here. But, if you’re looking for some Balinese charm and friendly service, you might be disappointed. There is nothing memorable about the place, and the manager is as cold as ice. We stayed 2 nights and our room was never cleaned. When we asked for a driver and vehicle for a full day, we were told that a “full day” is “3 hours.” (Not really big “problems” – just examples of the level of service you can expect at Pemedal.) Regarding the beach, you don’t really step out onto the beach from the resort (as implied by their pictures). In reality, you take some stairs down to a beach on a staircase at one end of the resort . . . and, unfortunately, the beach is a mix of sand and coral, making it difficult to walk. You would be much better to book a hotel at Mushroom Bay - the only beach we found with beautiful sand where you can swim and snorkel . . .and, if you want the perfect trip, book a speed boat that actually docks AT Mushroom Bay (so you can avoid an overland trip of rough roads to get to your accommodation)! I won’t be staying at Pemedal again, nor will any of the other travellers in my party. There are much better choices available.
