Hotel Waldcafe

Really friendly staff, location was great, the view was incredible. Nico is doing a great team. Comfortable beds, dinner was great. Really pleased, will be back 😁

The closest, affordable hotel to the glacier. The staff are the owners and they could not have been more friendly and welcoming. You sleep to the sound of the fast flowing river and the glacier twinkles in the clear night sky . Ski bus stop is beside the hotel.

Whilst the ski bus is excellent, you do need a car in the evening as the bus to the nearest town, Neustift, stops at 6…..and it’s a relatively expensive taxi back. Sadly the hotel’s restaurant was closed whilst we were there for evening meals as it was the end of the season.

Wellnessbereich im Keller mit 2 Sauna-Kabinen und Dampfbad. Sehr günstige Lage zum Gletscher. Frühstück ok.

Der Preis ist nicht gerechtfertigt. Wir haben für 2 Nächte mit 4 Personen fast 1000 Euro bezahlt. Die Zimmer haben Jugendherbergsniveau. Duschen schimmlig, in einem Zimmer fehlte der Toilettendeckel, schmutzige Gardinen. Die Ausstattung ist alt und abgewirtschaftet. Obwohl wir die Ankunftszeit auf eine Stunde eingegrenzt hatten und pünktlich ankamen, war niemand da, wir mussten erst anrufen, dann kam irgendwann ein Zimmermädchen, das erst eine Weile die Schlüssel suchte und uns dann in die Hand drückte. Wir haben dann selbst im Haus die Zimmer suchen müssen. Ich habe das Gespräch gesucht. Der Chef war nett, zeigte sich gesprächig und einsichtig, aber einen Preisnachlass lehnte er ab.

The host is so lovely and accommodating. It’s very close to the glacier and on the bus route so great location for heading up the mountain. Amenities were great, authentic Austrian.

A little tricky to get around if you want to go to the nearest town as the buses stop at certain times.
