Hotel Piast

The hotel has a very good location just across the street from the railway station. You can very well stay for cheap here and commute to Ostrava. My room was huge! Rather basic, but calm and quiet. And food in the on-site Indian restaurant was good! Wifi also good.

This is a typical case of you-get-what-you-pay-for. When I arrived, the front desk was unmanned and I had to call the manager, who came after just a few minutes and checked me in. I paid the room beforehand thru booking.com, otherwise I think they only accept CZK cash at the front desk. When I arrived to the room, the heating was turned off so the first night (with almost 0 Centigrade outside) it was quite cold, With the heating was switched on (centrally) it became much better. The hotel is quite old and while there has been some renovation, they haven´t changed the windows. And the smell from the Indian restaurant in the corridors was rather strong and irritating and you can´t get breakfast in the hotel (buy some sandwiches at the railway station).

The location is conveniently located close to the railway station. Reception clerk was polite. Value for money was good.

Some of the furniture was a bit old. The shower could have been a little more modern. Still, quite good value for the money.

Cheap and love the art that is spread throughout the hotel. Also the furniture - is above Retro, it is actually genuine older furniture but very well preserved.

It takes quite a while for the shower to have proper hot water running, like a minute or more. Recepcion is not always open, even to check in at a reasonable time like 18h20.

It is exactly what you are expecting from the hotel. Cheap and very modest, but clean, comfortable and very well maintained, so there is hardly how to be disappointed. The location is perfect, right in front of the train station. Great value for your money.

Nothing bothered me that much, just the water in the shower perhaps could warm faster and maybe would be cool to have 1 proper body towel instead of 2 hands and face towels for a single individual. But again, this is just a detail.
