"Stuck in beach traffic and found this gem . . ."

10.0

We were trying to make it from Lausanne, Switzerland all the way down to the Languedoc on a holiday weekend and the traffic was terrible. We pulled off the autoroute in Romans-sur-Isère at about 21:00 and crossed our fingers that we could find any type of hotel at all that had a room available. Luckily, the Hotel l'Orée du Parc is right on the main road into the center of the village. The outside looked inviting, so I ran up into the lobby. The proprietor was just getting ready to retire for the evening but I laid my sob story on him and he rented us a room. It was a lovely, big room with loads of character and two nice big windows on opposing walls so that we could get some cross-ventilation going. More importantly, we were starving and it was getting very late. The proprietesse called the Italian restaurant just one block down the street and they were still open and more than willing to accommodate us. Bottom line, if you are coming from up north and get stuck in traffic on the way down to the south of France, pop in here and they will take care of you!

"Like Staying With a Wealthy Relative"

10.0

You can see, from the steady stream of positive reviews, this hard working couple have got it right: they make you feel very much at home; the grounds are peaceful and delightful, the rooms are comfortable, immaculate and well appointed-if a bit spartan/functional; the breakfast is well crafted and generous and the overall picture is considerable value at this price point. Splendid-walk in shower and good lighting in the bathroom. Romans is a pleasant town with a nice ambiance, a number of superior restaurants and both close to worthy touristic and scenic attractions and yet just a bit off the main north-south toll road axis. There is plenty of parking in town at modest or free rates. The hotel itself provides secure free parking within its gates. The house was built by a successful local merchant-and retains the feeling of a prosperous and tasteful residence. While yards away from a busy boulevard, it is a quiet sanctuary-a place to recharge your batteries before venturing forth. The couple of acres of manicured private garden is spellbinding. There is a small pool and lawn chairs for those who have the inclination to stay put. The rooms are one or two floors up a fairly steep staircase-but the owners are most willing to help-if you need such help lugging your bags. If you have trouble with the stairs on your own-well that is something to consider before booking.

"Lovely small bed and breakfast, excellent choice"

8.0

The owners Sylvie and John are gracious, helpful and very welcoming. They are a highlight of the experience staying here. Romans sur Isere is not a vacation area, although the wine is outstanding and the shoe/leather outlet shopping is also excellent. Breakfast in the garden is very nice and there is a pool as well. Very well maintained, pretty rooms and an overall great stay. They do not have a bar per se, but they do serve beer and wine. Great living room common area. I will gladly stay again.

"excellent and charming"

10.0

Very warm welcomed in a beautiful house. Excellent place with few nice rooms: outstanding comfort and cleanliness. Very nice breakfast facing a wonderful garden: homemade jams and pancakes, delicious fruit juices and croissants, French cheeses. Walking distance from the center of a middle age town. The owners always charming and ready to please you in every detail. I highly recommend this place.

"Excellent place! I recommend."

10.0

This is a small hotel - only a few rooms - inside a large old house that has been completely renovated and very tastefully decorated. From the moment you step into the hall, the owners - who run the hotel themselves - will make you feel at ease and really welcome. Ready to give you information about the area. Our room - named Capucine, all rooms have a name - was located on the first floor with a view over the park. Very comfortable bed, reliable wifi system, nice bathroom with all the necessary toiletries. Nice decoration. You cannot ask for more. Buffet breakfast is a bit pricy but very tasty with home-made jams, butter croissants, etc. Also, note that they provide a secured car park, free of charge. L'Orée du Parc really deserves its three stars rating, there is no doubt about it.

"Beautiful Hotel in Sleepy Romans"

10.0

Was here for two nights on a business trip last October. The weather was beautiful, but as it was that time of year the sun set early. We arrived after dark and were not able to get dinner before arriving. The owners called down the street to a local restaurant and had them stay open just for us. The rooms were excellent as large as any American hotel. In the U.S. This would be a very nice B&B. Breakfast was wonderful and ready each morning before we headed out for work. I would love to come back and stay on holiday.

"Magnifique petit hôtel"

10.0

Fantastic property. We had a very warm welcome, the room we stayed in was beautiful and very comfortable, wifi worked perfectly, nice bathroom and amenities, good quality breakfast. Everything in the hotel was well taken care of which is not common in a small property like this. We will surely be back and highly recommend this hotel.

"A very pleasant 3 star hotel"

10.0

situated in its own park with garden and swimming pool. Only a ten minute walk to the "Marques Avenue" shopping centre. The rooms are quiet, simple, clean and very comfortable with all you need. Breakfast is served by the cheerful owners, husband and wife. A recommended stop over in Romans , the "French shoe capital".
