"Hana's Celeste Retreat" Large Modern Villa Sleeps 6 on 20 Acres of Nature!

Very spacious, comfortable, good AC, good cooking facilities, brilliants walks through rainforest on your doorstep. Easy to get to shops and restaurants in town. We were given a short free guide to see sloths etc. on the property

Laundry facilities were handy but washing machine a bit tricky to use if not used to it - some instructions would help

Beautiful setting with several nature trails next to us. Many birds and animals seen - sloth, howler monkeys, lizards. The host were very friendly and helpful, and Jonathan took us round the property and showed us the sloth, which we would never have found without him. Bijagua is a charming small town with lots of eating places and there is a wide range of activities to do in the area. This was our favourite part of Costa Rica that we visited in our 3 week holiday.

Perfect quiet location to enjoy the local area. The property is amazing, with its own trails, local monkey, sloth and birds galore. A truly relaxing and beautiful spot to spend 3 days.

Beautiful property with well maintained easy trails that are a great way to explore rainforest flora and fauna and even a 500 year old tree. The lovely family of Bertha and Kamal live across from the villa, far enough so that you have privacy, but close enough should you need assistance. There was an air conditioner but we didn't need it as the screened windows allowed breezes and fresh air. The interior is very spacious and clean. Bertha's brother, Jonathan, offers his services as a guide who is gifted at tracking and spotting wildlife and knowledgeable about many of the rainforests plants. We were happy to book activities with him including a hike to the family's other 80 acres of rainforest (a chance to see the elusive Tapirs), a visit to a cacao farm (wonderful tour with resident biologist and in house chocolate maker) and tubing on the Rio Celeste (too rough if its been raining a lot). Jonathan was very generous with his time, worked hard to make our experiences great and would always locate the villa's resident sloths for us each day, as he knew how much we enjoyed seeing them.

The villa is not a stand alone unit as it is next door to another small unit that is used as an office, so that's not apparent in the photos. But the front covered porch is a relaxing place to sit and watch the trees for birds and animals using binoculars borrowed from Kamal. They also provided really nice head lamps that were great to explore the trails with at night to see the critters that come out in the dark.

Beautiful surroundings, well stocked, and ample room for two families with kids. We had an amazing time. Kamal and Bertha are wonderful hosts. Be sure to walk on the trails at the property. Location is perfect to explore the area, highly recommended.

Location was amazing, the property grounds were lush, the house was comfortable, the hosts were exceptional, and Jonathan the guide was top notch!!!

We loved everything but found the heavy rains to be loud - not the fault of the property. Earplugs did the trick!

Our stay was beyond our expectations. We traveled with a 4 and 5 year old which can be challenging and Hana's Celeste Retreat was the perfect place to help make our travels easier. Plenty of room in the house, comfortable for us and the kids and the property had lot of walking paths through the forest which made exploring extra easy with young ones. The host, Kamal, and his family were incredible. They provided a lot of helpful advice and really enhanced our trip. The location of the property is right outside of town so it was really easy to grab food or run to the store but its just far enough away that you feel very immersed in nature. A troop of howler monkeys came through the trees by our house the last night we were there and it was so special.
