Hotel Alte Post Garni

The location of this hotel offers some advantages. It is right across from the train station so easy access to explore Mainz and Frankfurt. It is also really close to the airport. It's also in a lovely quiet town. I recommend the walk to the Spitze where the Main river joins the Rhine. Staff were exceptional, the breakfast was good and the hotel has a particularly unique antique style that in no way feels like it needs to be updated or refurbished.

Quaint and comfortable hotel. Staff are friendly. It was way beyond my expectation and I was pleasantly surprised.

The breakfast could have more variety for each day

I spend quite a bit of time in German hotels throughout the 1980's and early 1990's. This is one of the few hotels that remind me of the classic hotels of that era: marble stairs with wrought iron rails; formal breakfast room; and real cherry wood room furniture. In other hotels of the same era, remodels have removed much of this classic furniture and replaced it with less expensive modular furniture suites. Location is great: 1 stop from Mainz Roman Theatre stop which is on edge of town center. Also, just a few stops west of Frankfurt Airport. Will be a place to stay next time I fly in or out of Frankfurt.
