Fantastic location on a working stable Plenty of hot water and good comfortable beds

Because off grid and a working stable there were no frills

"Passable"

4.0

The room was spacious and clean. Bed was very comfy and warm. We were able to find out way easily to the property.

1.Its 4km inside on a dirt road which gets tricky especially when it rains. 2.Guests have to open and close the gate of the property which was rather an inconvenience because of the pouring rain and mud. 3.There was no water in the morning so we had to go about our activities without taking a shower. This was however fixed after a couple of hours 4.Food menu is quite limited but Wizzy was quick to give us suggestions of alternative restaurants near the property. 5.Wifi was abit unstable so we just ended up using our bundles

Wizzy and John are terrific people who bring you into their family and make you feel at home. The horse riding and hiking are great!

Bed was hard, but it improved with a mattress topper. Food was OK.

"It fell far short of our expectations for a farm stay."

3.0

Location and views of Mt. kenya was wonderful. Also walking to the stables & the nearby forest was a good experience.

The property and grounds are run down and badly need maintenance. There’s no water in the pool and no other entertainment for non- horse riders. Food was limited and without variety.

Such a beautiful property in a stunning location, with the most wonderful hosts Wizzy and John! The room was incredibly spacious with a beautiful view, but it must be said we spent most of our time in the homely communal areas and the amazing stables.

Absolutely nothing, we will be forever grateful to have found the farm and plan to return many times over.

"A very pleasant and relaxing stay at a very friendly and welcoming family place."

The hospitality of the family is remarkable and very, very welcoming. It was very relaxing and it was a great experience to participate in some of the family life. Breakfast and evening meals were great. The view from the bed room on Mount Kenya makes for an impressive waking up.

The property sits on lush and expansive land with an amazing view of Mt Kenya. We had a wonderful farm experience with goats, chicken, pigeons and very well behaved dogs on site. The cherry on the cake are the horses which my daughters thoroughly enjoyed riding of course at an extra cost. They serve a basic continental breakfast which is part of what one pays for. The bread and cakes are freshly baked and the milk is fresh from the goats that reside on the farm. We loved the cozy living room with books, boardgames and a fire place which made for a lovely place to bond after dinner. The host Wizzy and her team were always available throughout our stay to assist in any queries we had. I also loved the proximity to various eateries, and to Nanyuki. We drove out on both days and explored different eateries (Tree Trout and Barney’s) which were about 12 and 20 minutes from our stay, and we also took a drive to MT KENYA National park, accessing it from Sirmon’s gate in Timau which was about 40 minutes away.

Our room had water pressure issues on the second day and we struggled to shower with the little pressure. However on day one the pressure and temperature were excellent, so it might help to remind the host to pump in good time. Also, the host offers the option to have supper with her family at a fee. The food was delicious. On day one we had a delightful potato and leek soup, and spaghetti and meatballs which were a favorite for all of us. On day two however, they served chapati and lentils. Much as it was well done, it wasn’t a favorite for me. So it helps to ask before hand what they will be serving for supper which allows you to make an informed decision whether to eat out or in.
